Hey, my Merc wasn't even running Wed. before the show. We fixed it looked at each other and said what the Hell, if it breaks we'll fix it again. Old cars are gonna break no matter how functional they are. If they break when you're on the road half the fun is figuring it out and getting it running again. Ran the Merc across the desert in the middle of the day Sunday and it ran like a top. My hangover was worse. Drive em', fix em' drive em' again. If your afraid to drive it you're in the wrong hobby -stick
P.S. I'm on a first name basis with every tow truck driver in L.A. Though.

thirtytwo - I sold my house and moved into a motorhome and race trailer. It IS my house and garage (Well, was until I built my new garage in Fla). My roadster is very streetable, and it was my daily tranportation while I was touring (from '95 to '98). I went to a lot of events all over the country, and met a lot of other guys who were doing the same thing - enjoying retirement.

What I learned is that a trailer doen't make the person. Some use them because they take their family with them, and don't have room in the car. Some trailer them because of health reasons. Who cares?

Once, in Columbus, Ohio, I parked at the same hotel as friends who drove their cars. Some people were *****ing about my rig, even while I was using the shop in my trailer to fix cars for people I didn't know. When one of the *****ers had a problem I offered to let him use my shop.

I've driven my cars more than most - I used to put 15k miles on my T per year (In Cincinnati, With short summers). I drove my roadster to the strip in Cincy and changed to slicks that a friend brought on his swap trailer, raced (won Cl*** & Top Eliminator), and put my street tires back on and drove home, p***ing the race cars on trailers that I beat. I've been doing this fun stuff for 44 years, so take my advice and relax. You aren't going to change anything, trailers don't make a rodder bad, and they might be able to help you when you're in need.

what about flat towing?i flat towed my t to Austin and it was a good damn thing since i broke spindles and a blew up a motor.real hot rods are driven and if they are driven like real hot rods...they will break.i know what you saying but if some one is going from "kanada" to vegas...and wants to tow it down...i dont see the trouble.back in the "50s" not very many people put the amount of miles on these things as some of us do.i wish i could have drove my t to Austin.but she was a puppy and t i had trouble with her the week before didnt have the time to fix it all...thought that id fix stuff down there.should i have not of taken her?to me fixing **** at a show is more "greaser" than hating on people that towed they're cars down....i saw the bleedster on a trailer coming down to the roundup...and i saw bob driving it too...and he wasnt petting her at all.and thats a hot rod.so whos to say whats right..i believe in driving them two...how many honestly drive them everyday..i know people that do ...and i did for three years...what you want a cookie?if you drive it all the time you should get the highs and lows of driving old tin all the time.it reminds me ...of im more punk than you.

I have to say I agree. Why trailer it. Just drive it. I was there at VLV on Monday and saw this group of cars (less the girl) getting loaded on to trailers... HAHA funny they waited until MONDAY. I may even have photos of it.

Hey so-cheep... I waited 30 minutes to calm down after I had read your miss-guided post. So now as I write this, I won't be typing things such as: "***hole", "screw you", "bite me", "*** wipe", "**** nut" and "**** HEAD".
That truck was a mere idea and a pile of parts in late January of this year! We would have loved to drive it to VLV, but as time would have it, THE ****IN' ENGINE WAS STARTED FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME late Thursday night! Not to mention the rear axle hadn't been finished, the wiring wasn't done, the floor wasn't done and the front end was sitting too low... just to name a few. Every member of our club put in countless hours, after their day jobs, just to get it that far, and we were not going to leave it home. We were planing to leave on Wed. but, it didn't work out. So rather than driving 2 roadsters that can only do 60 mph tops on the freeway, we chose to put 3 of our cars on the trailer and bust *** to get there by Friday night so we didn't miss too much of the party... SO ****IN WHAT???!!! If we could have got everything ****oned-up on Wed., we would have drove them all down, that's more fun anyway. And yes, we loaded them on Monday, that's the day we were going home! If we even gave a FLYING **** about what people the likes of you think, we would have drove the cars to the hotel AND LOADED THEM UP THERE INSTEAD!

Did you even make the effort to walk over and introduce yourself? Maybe talk with us a bit? You would have made a bunch of new friends. You MIGHT have a different opinion, and you wouldn't have put your foot in your mouth in front of God and everybody on the HAMB.

We don't care if anyone's car is trailered or not. We would rather people trailer their cars so we get to see them than not see them at all. Our club is about driving the cars, not trailering them, but sometimes you just can't avoid it. I drove my '31 model A to VLV. I drive my model A everywhere... even to work and the store.. I drive it daily. And when we have enough time to get Woody's truck finished, IT WILL BE DRIVEN DAILY ALSO! All of that being said, I think I've changed my mind... I THINK I WILL CALL YOU AN ***HOLE!!!!!!

FOR THE RECORD.. BUICK59 didn't know we had trailered the 3 cars down. He might have thought we drove them down to VLV because we went with him down to Prim Valley on Sunday in ALL the club's hot rods.

For everyone else... sorry for the language I don't ever swear.. THIS GUY JUST PISSED ME OFF.

You guys are funny....... This post is ****ing gay.

All of these arguments always come down to the situation.

There are ***s who tow their rat rods to shows 20 miles away. Homos for sure.

Obviously guys build stuff for different reasons, some guys like to drive and some guys like to "pose."

Then there are some dudes who like the play "I'm cooler than you cause I DRIVE my car" or "I'm more ******** than you cause my car is lower." ***s.

It's no different than those goofy rockabilly guys who worry about their "hairCuts" and "cuffs."

Why do you dudes have so much to prove?
    Are you insecure?
    Do you need "COOL" points?

    I've got news for you,

I'm cooler than all you mother****ers and I've got nothing to prove. HaHaHaHaHaHaHa

Seriously, I drive the **** out of my roadster I think I've put over 20,000 miles on it in the 2 years I've had it on the road. That's pretty many for a channeled open roadster with slicks in Wisconsin..........

I diddn't put those miles on the car for bragging rights, I did it because I wanted to, I love that car. It makes me feel good.

I trailered the car to Austin because it was the smart thing to do. It was still ****ing winter in Wisconsin. Beleive me, I've driven that car in weather that most of you Cali guys wouldn't even go outside in, and I wanted to drive the car to Texas, but it would have been stupid.

Maybe if I had a coupe, or at least treaded tires I would have drove it, but I don't regret trailoring it at all. The weather was terrible on the way down and I would have been wet and cold the whole time. That would have ****ed.

Once I was down there I drove it like the ***hole I am. It was AWSOME. It was like 80 degress and I got to rip around in my roadster for a couple days. When we got home it was still in the 30's.

I am planning a trip to California to visit some close friends in L.A. and then go to Paso. I am going to trailer the car to L.A, wip around for a week and then drive it to Paso and back to L.A. The reason for this is all timing. It would be cool for the trip to revolve around driving the car to California, but that isn't the point. I want to spend as much time with my friends out there as possible. I want the trip to revolve around driving the car IN California. Maybe someday I will plan a trip around driving the car across country, but not this time. I have a limited amount of time on this trip.

So if some of you guys are going to think less of me, maybe I'll make up for it by getting a pompadore...........

Seriously, you all do hopped up cars, but what is cooler then lets say a 54 chevy wagon, primered in red rims with a souped up 235, pulling a gator trailer with a plywood hydro-plane made from popular science plans, powered by a "hot-rodded" Mercury Huricane with a quicksilver racing lower unit...hot damn, now THAT'S a trailer queen!
