I'm sure this is a silly question, but has anyone out there got jerked around by the sales staff at Speedway motors? The last thing these people seem to want to do is sell car parts!! I'm six weeks behind on my build 'cause of them!!
I get emails back from the sales department that look like they were written by a third grader!!!

I need an alternate source for a set of 8RT water pumps with a ceramic seal so I don't have to get them from "that parts store".

Speedway is one of the best if you ask me. The are always up on their stock and ship the same day. Fairly priced, too.
I always call on the phone, and their tech folks do a thorough job as well.

Do you work by internet or call? If its the internet, try calling. They've never let me down or had anything I've ordered out of stock

  3. i've never had a problem either. call on monday, it's at my door on wednesday.

Speedway used to add a $50 surcharge to all Canadian orders.
    Nobody else did.

No idea if they still do that,or not.

Have you tried Dick Spararo,Carpenters,Mac's,etc ?

I agree that they may not like Canadians ;) My order was held for three weeks 'cause they didn't know if I wanted wrenches with the lifters I ordered (if I wanted them, I would have ordered them) and now I'm waiting on a trans adapter. I'm ordering online, but when you get an order confirmation, you'd think the order was getting processed, right? I guess they just go to someone's inbox.... I wrote and complained, got a reply that looked like it was written by my 4 year old, and still nothing... I finally sent a nasty email and got some results. I've got one more order for this build, but it really narks me to have to go back there after shitty customer service...
My wife's from Nebraska, so I can't even make any snarky comments about the states education system!

I've had some Offenhauser parts on backorder for over a month- but I think it's Offenhauser that's at fault for being behind. Usually Speedway stuff is here within 2 days of ordering.

I have had good luck with speedway. They sometimes do a free shipping deal. Even if the stuff is on back order you get the free shipping if you order before the 15th of January(I think). They also have a tech guy that will answer the tuff questions.
    Good luck with your stuff.

  10. they fucked up my order once but then they fixed it by sending the right shit to me no charge for shipping or anything!

You catch more flys with honey! I have always had good luck with them. I even drove up there once and met the owners wife, that just happened to be standing around, Very nice lady! I had ordered the wrong headers & was returning them for the right ones, no hassle what so ever. Try to call & find out whats going on!

The way to do it if you have questions is to call them on the phone. They have been great with me although I watch some of the things they sell because they are done a little cheaper than others.
When I built my 32 i screwed up an order and no problem i just sent the stuff back as per the return stuff in the package and the right stuff within a week

My own experience is that Speedway has real good customer service. Yes call and talk to a real human and your results will be better. Quality of some of their stuff can be a little questionable.

A couple of things catch my eye here.
    1. Maybe you talk funny - EH ?
    2. Maybe they wrote you back IN ENGLISH and you couldn't understand it
because it was not a mix of English/ French-Canadian.
    3. Yes- I'm giving you shit on this but we agree on one thing.........
These Corn -Fed Midwestern girls are pretty HEALTHY - EH !
    Cob

Oh Last thing - Shipping TO Canada is a pain the in ass 80% of the time.
Free trade zone my butt. A lot more paperwork required to ship to Canada than coming from Canada.
Do you have any friends south of our border ?
Could give you a tip or two !

  20. I gotta tell ya- I deal over the phone and have had good luck. I always try to ask for a guy named Clark if he's there- he's been very helpful many times.

thats usually the way it goes for me......we generally order at least once a week ....sometimes 2......occassionally they are out of stock on somethings....but then sometimes you get a better part for the cheap price.....ordered a pair of plain steel hairpins......got the unpolished stainless instead.....i like the 2 day service.......and you also need to get the circle track catalogs as well ....tons of useful stuff in those......brandon

If you ordered anything with the Offenhauser name on it! They are on a national Backorder! Especially the Trans adaptors! Offy will only cast a certain # at a time! Thats why Speed-way started making their own! I finally got tired of waiting on the Offy version and went with the Speedway adaptor and it works great!

I'm glad to hear the adapters work well, as it was the Speedway one that I ordered. I'm encouraged by all the positive feedback, as I have a few things I'd still like to get. I'll try calling in my next order.

I don't get it. Over the last five years I have ordered over $15,000 worth the parts from Speedway. Never a problem. Prompt shipping, the right stuff, good price, and no problems with returns. Must be Canada?

I like Canadians... Seems like my last 3 big jobs came from there....They keep my hot rod addiction funded.

I was talking with the waiter at dinner the other night about this and he asked.."Whats the difference between a Canuk and a canoe?"

    " I dunno"

    "A Canoe will tip"

Oh, is it "Blame Canada" time again?

So, here's one for you boys so fond of bashing other countries:

It was the first day of school in California and a new student named Suzuki, the son of a Japanese businessman, entered the fourth grade. The teacher said, "Let's begin by reviewing some American history:--Who said 'Give me Liberty, or give me Death?'" She saw a sea of blank faces, except for Suzuki, who had his hand up. "Patrick Henry, 1775."

She said."Very good! Who said 'Government of the People, by the People, for the People, shall not perish from the Earth'"?

-Again, no response except from Suzuki. " Abraham Lincoln, 1863.", said Suzuki.

The teacher snapped at the class, "Class, you should be ashamed. Suzuki, who is new to our country, knows more about its history than you do. This riled the class a bit. She heard a loud whisper: "Fuck the Japs."

"Who said that?" she demanded. --Suzuki put his hand up. "Lee Iacocca, 1982."

At that point, a student in the back said, "I'm gonna puke". The teacher glares and asks "All right! Now, who said that?"

Again, Suzuki says, "George Bush [Sr.] to the Japanese Prime Minister, 1991."

Now furious, another student yells, "Oh yeah? Suck this!"

Suzuki jumps out of his chair, excitedly waving his hand and shouts to the teacher, "Bill Clinton, to Monica Lewinsky, 1997!"

Now with almost a mob hysteria someone said, "You little shit. If you say anything else, I'll kill you." ---Suzuki frantically yells at the top of his voice, "Gary Condit to intern Chandra Levy in 2001" .

The teacher faints. And as the class gathered around the teacher on the floor, someone said, "Oh shit, we're fucked!"---and Suzuki then says, "Americans,... in Iraq, 2005!"
    ;)

That actually happened to me recently, ordered the plain perches with intention to nickle plate em, and got stainless. No biggie, since polished stainless is cool too. They musta had a bunch of them get boxed wrong.

To the point of the thread, I've never had ANY issues with an order from them, always prompt and correct no matter if I order online or call. I've had numerous packages arrive from them shipped UPS blue when all I paid for was ground. No idea why, they shipped same day as order, so they didn't use 2 day to make up for late shipment or anything.....

Well, EVERYTHING here leans to the north.
At first we thought it was Minnesota but when we visited Minnesota we noticed that everything there leaned farther to the north too.
So we ventured farther and visited Canada and noticed that everything pretty much was upright and stood still.
We asked one of the locals what it was like to live here.

Well, He said " Everything around here SUCKS. People whine and complain all the time.

Well, that explains everything leaning in Minnesota and Iowa anyway.

I guess the end of story is Don't buy from Speedway.
    Sorry it happened to you.
    You don't like them.
Find someplace to buy your parts in Canada.
    GOOD LUCK !

**** I actually like visiting Canada - my son plays Hockey there sometimes.

By the way, we are not blaming Canada.
Any guy who has less than 10 posts on this board who comes on here and calls a working person here in the States a monkey, steals one of our beloved Midwestern Corn Fed Healthy busted Nebraska women and then ends his joke about the U.S. being Fucked in Iraq while our guys are dieing to keep those nuts on that continent is asking for a bunch of shit.

Don't mix politics with this, especially about the war.
You want to come see my buddies grave ?

Nuff said, you had problems with Speedway.
    Looks like nobody else has.

    Jokes are over.
    Get back to cars.
