OK so I filled the converter and put fluid in my ******.
Noticed it didn't work in reverse very well and figured out there was not enough fluid in it. I'm sure that was the case.
Had it in park (I know now that's not right), hot and Idling.
Put more fluid in it and it never came up on the stick. If course then there was too much in it and it pushed quite a bit out.
Do I let it sit a while to get the bubbles out of the fluid and put it in neutral , hot and idling, and then try to get the right amount of fluid in it?
    Any other advise?
    Thanks
    Jim

How many quarts do you have in it? A 700 holds 11 qts. Not sure about a 200.

time to pull the pan and verify the full line is even with the pan rail. Pan rail needs to be level front to rear and side to side when checking. Not a torque flite can be checked in Park, however fresh trans needs to be cycled through shifter positions a couple of times but that's all that's required. If you have one of those cable/plastic stick deals I hate it for you. Hope the vent isn't plugged.
