Hey guys, I'm considering a kind of off beat trans adaptation, and I would swear that some one or several companies at one time made an adapter that would go from a sixties ford pattern to a Chevrolet pattern. Anybody else remember this, or am I just loosing my mind? Doesn't seem like so long ago I saw these in Speedway and may be a couple of others. Been through a stack of catalogs and on the web a ton and can't find what I remember. Any ideas? Thanks, Chip Quinn
I ordered a Wilcap adapter from "Vaphead" - aka Eric from Riley Automotive. My application was for Y-block to th350. http://www.riley-auto.com/ADAPTERS.html http://www.wilcap.com/webdoc8.html
Offenhauser made (or makes) a flat plate style adapter to go from Chevy stick pattern to Ford stick pattern.
Here's what I'm up to - Have '66 170 six, and I want to go to a Borg Warner T50. Kind of an obscure trans they made in the late seventies and early eighties. The gearing and size, shifter location ,etc. is going to be advantageous in this deal. I'm keeping the six almost stock, so I'm not worried about strength issues. It uses a traditional Chevy trans pattern, so I remembered seeing this adapter at some point that I thought did just that. Sorry, my computer flamed out for a bit there... Anyway, the ford pattern on the bell I have I'm a bit confused by. The Falcon guys refer to it as a "top loader" pattern, but I don''t recognize it as that. This seems to be on a wider rectangle than the "toploader"pattern I'm familure with. This whole though is a bit of a shot in the dark, but if some thing can save me some time I'll try it.
Cool Heathen, thank you - I think that's the one I'm thinking of. Does Offy have a web sight? I know they were averse to such thing fairly recently, but don't know if that has changed.
