Hi. I am trying to get a 56 Cadillac road worthy. I am considering using an external cooler for the transmission. The 56 had an external cooler but I don't have one and haven't had any luck finding one. Anybody have an experience installing an external cooler I could use some advice.
    Thanks

You can put one in front of the radiator or I have installed them on the frame rail giving it enough room to have air flow .
Most kits have enough hose to complete the job. They also come with instructions and pictures.

Yep, simple and easy to route in front of radiator.

    Thanks guys
Simple and efficient sounds like the way to go. The one for Cadillac mounted near the trans under the flywheel. In 56 It used the radiator fluid to cool the trans. Since I haven't been able to find one I like the idea of an external one in front of the stock radiator.

I have a complete trans from a 1957 Cadillac with the cooler intact. It was a running combo. I'm using the engine in front of a 700r4. You can have the cooling set up for shipping costs if you want to make it stock. PM me here or shoot me an email. blake@windingroadclassics.com

  7. If you just want a cooler to do an efficient job and not cost a bunch, they are fairly generic and easy to online search to compare size, cost, etc. They are a simple, basic add on and you don't need to work at NASA to know how to put one in.
I'm posting more for the novices out there and not you old hands who can do this while holding a sandwich.
