So I have looked around and for some reason I can't find it I have 350/700r4 combo in my shoebox I need a trans cross member . How are y'all modifying your stock ones. Or is there a good thread that shows how to do it.

you can make your own ofcourse or im pretty sure Jamco makes on for the application

  3. Look at Butch's Cool Stuff. I know he makes the swap kit for your car, maybe he has the cross member.

Or Speedway Motors they have a lot of swap stuff like universal cross members I have used in the past. Call their tech people they have been around well over 50 years.

Well I tried Butch's jamco and western chassis no luck they carry mounts for the turbo 350 but no 700r4. Speedway didn't answer so I am gonna call them back. Any tips on building one?

I think that the TH350 mount will fit the 700R4, you will need to move it back in the frame a little. This will require putting spacers under the mounting plates to the frame (frame rails are closer together at the front), and tweaking the parking brake cable setup a little.

You could always call Jamco and ask them how much drop is in their TH350 one, and then buy a universal one with that drop.

Shoebox Central has a adapter kit that apparently uses Ford crossmember. There is a difference in length in transmission mounts. Rather than drop drag link to clear sump, use a 66-67 Nova oil pan, pickup tube and oil pump.

Butches Cool Stuff also has a similar kit

  11. I have a SBC in my '59 Ford and used the early Nova pan. At the transmission cross member, I made up an adapter plate from some 1/2" x 4" steel I had. I would look up some universal cross members at Summit, even look at some used Chevelle ones, mount it where you want.
