I am building an 8BA/torque tube driveline and 40 banjo rear-end hotrod in an aftermarket 1932 chassis. I would like to mount a 1940 3 speed trans in this chassis that was built for a more modern transmission. I haven't been able to find anyone who makes a mount that I could modify to fit. If you have run into this situation or have any advice on the best way to construct a trans mount I would appreciate the help. Tony
Looking at your photo it seems You might be able to use the frame side of some generic biscuit style motor mounts welded to the x member legs. thats my first thought anyhow
Thanks Tim, I thought of that, but I was hoping to fashion a mount that also cradled the bottom of the yoke, kind of like the original mount.
@NB141FD That original mount is what came to my mind. If you can scrounge up one it could/should be easily modified to bolt into your new chassis. Other ideas come to mind, but a pic(s) from behind the trans, or in front, to see the height relationship between the trans ears and the frame rails would make it easier to envision what’s needed. I don't know if this would help but my 58 takes these motor mounts and they would probably be able to work. They were used on 59 to 63 Ramblers as motor mounts and I believe they are still easy to get. I got some off Ebay a few years ago and they were not too expensive.
