Does anybody know, if a 327 chevy will bolt up to my stock 1954 chevy powerglide. Or do i need to swap the entire drive train.
When the transmission was designed it was designed for a certain amount of torque and to be capable to getting rid of a certain amount of heat. You might be able to fudge a little but I think what you are proposing would give you problems. I am sure you would be better off swapping the entire drive train. Charlie Stephens
Do they even have the same bolt pattern on the bellhousing ??? I thought the bolt pattern changed in 55 when the V8's came out, but I am just guessing. Don
The answer is NO ! The only later engine that will bolt to that trans is a 55-62 Chevy 235 or 261. A saerch would have answered this as the same question was asked in the last week.
I through the chevy six cylinder had the same trans mounting bolt pattern as the small blocks. If not when did they change. I have seen 350,400, 700 bolted to six cylinders and most of the guys I know that drag race use a 2 speed power guide behind all different chey motors.
