Yes. You're building a hot rod, not a refurbished antique.

Yes that's what I think. I'd rather have a second brake light than get rear ended

Wow! Just went through this thread... Exceptional HOT ROD!! Damn, the steel body seems so straight that it looks like a glass car! Another HAMBr on here has a '32 Ford coupe bought from some old pappie and is just as nice, only he won't post any more pics OTHER than the body... After several begging requests, he STILL hasn't... I'll be watching yours much more closely - CONGRATS again!!

  8. Same deal with my 39 Standard. My problem is I cant bring myself to cut a hole in the pass side fender for another tail light. I found some marker lights on a 1940's Mack Tow truck that were in a cool little pod, that I rewired to take a dual filament bulb and used a LED 1157 in side it for a brake and tail light. Then made a little bracket for it and attached to the pass bumper iron. I didn't repaint it so it looks like it was added to it for another taillight 60 years ago. My light was painted orange, but they look almost just like these below.

Nice idea Jason!..I'll keep those in mind for another project i have!
Upon closer inspection,The passenger side fender on this car is probably the worst part of the entire body..It has an old repair on the bead thats showing so I won't feel too bad drilling some holes in it..If this car ever gets re-restored in its lifetime,(not by me!) the holes can be filled in.. Besides that, and you know me,the fenders most likely will be removed by next year! ha ha

  11. Yeah I get that. My big reason for not cutting is that my 39 still has all the factory paint on it and its not bad, shines up pretty good. any early 30's car I have had never had the fenders on them, it was either should buy a set of fenders and running boards or that Columbia 2 Speed.........yeah go with the Columbia!

IMG_1776.JPG I didn't want to cut the fender on my '40 standard either so I fabricated some brackets on the bumper irons and added these motorcycle marker lights. (Turn signal & brake ights). They're not too obtrusive and add some degree of safety.

I thought about that too. But wasn't sure how to mount them so they didn't look like some cheesy add on.

Looks great George. I, too, have gone with the blackwalls on black wires look on my (your old) 33. I'm running without the trim rings, though.

Geo- Go with Two, as I won't always be around as in " I got your back"... should someone hit the Dogsmobile... They must be___ physically challenged, on either side of their nostrils!! ps. The Fossils gig is coming up again, soon and nightfall will be the true Test for this coupe !

Thanks Mart!..I just think the trim rings brighten it up a little..Not much, very subtle.
Yep,already did Tommy!..drilled the holes today..Ironically,there was no brake light switch on this car! So,i had no brake lights at all!..The wires were there but they were just taped up!Got a switch from Selzam and wired them up,Viola! brakes lights!
