Transmission Identification

Can anyone tell me the basics of transmission ID,I have two ,one with side shift and one top loader. both are ford vintage ? thanks Ron

easiest way is to take a few good pictures and post them, and wait for someone else to identify them. Although some guys find the posting pictures part to be pretty challenging (it's like rocket surgery).
