Technical Transmission leak sealent?

    Whats the best transmission pan sealent. With a new gasket?

  2. the best seal is a straight pan, and a duraprene gasket properly torqued. if you need sealant, fix whats tweaked.

    I've always been told not to use sealant on automatic transmissions, just something my dad said, never questioned it. He was a Ford Mechanic in the 70's

    I use 3M General Interior Adhesive spray. I coat the lip of the pan, put on the cork gasket, flip it upside down and put a brick on it for about 10 minutes.

    Install and do not over torque. Never had one leak yet.
     
  5. What they said and make sure your using the correct pan bolts. Have the washer built in.

    that means you usually have to tap the flange down where the bolts have distored it. I do this on the edge of a steel work bench, using a hammer, and care.
