I had a "friend" of mine istall a transmission in one of my cars, and since he delivered it back to me there have been puddles on the floor. I've been told since then that the fluid is coming from a weld on the case. It's a pain in the ass to check the fluid level all the time, and this "friend " swears the transmission was tip top and a little fluid coming out shouldn't worry me. Well, I'm ticked and I'm wondering if there is a way to remedy this without removing the transmission. Thanks CindyC
Where is it welded and why? What kind of trans is it? If the case had a hole in it he should have replaced the case. The cheap way out would be, drain the fluid down past the leak at the weld and, I just hate to say it but use "JB Weld" on the weld to seal it. I don't like to use it but some time it is the best fix for the price, good luck.
Thanks. Sorry I didn't say what kind of transmission, it's a Muncie 4 speed, the "outside" party who had a look at it, told me it was welded near the front of the case. Why? I have no idea, since I was told the transmission was "tip top", and would be perfect for me. So, thanks for the replies, I appreciate the input, nothing like getting a screwing from a trusted friend to make your day. Live and learn...
