Trying to decide if I should just run my transmission lines to the little oil radiator or if I should p*** through the engine radiator first. I can do it either way, but just going to the oil radiator would be a lot simpler, your opinion? Ralph
I used this one:http://www.bmracing.com/products/70...13000-btu-rating-black/?mk=&yr=&md=&smd=&eng= It is mounted on the splash pan behind the grill on the p***enger side almost a straight shot off my AOD using 36" lengths of steel tubing to connect to the flexline.CAUTION: Notice in the kit there are 4 clamps, buy 4 more additional clamps and use two clamps offset 180 degrees from each other at each fitting,I had a pressure line blow off in the dark on the way to work and fried a $1200 700R4 on another vehicle that was only a month old I do not plumb it into the radiator fittings it is a stand alone unit.
I've used the aftermarket oil coolers but if my radiator has provisions for the transmission lines I use them. HRP
Nowadays, radiators are not the same quality they used to be and this follows on with the cooling tubes inside the radiator. It is not uncommon for radiators to split nowadays. This has the potential to destroy a transmission. If the cooling tubes crack your trans will fill up with water. It will then need to be rebuilt immediately as it will very quickly rust and seize. Do yourself a favour. Blank off the holes in the radiator and simply connect the cooling lines to an external oil cooler. There have been numerous cases of gearbox failure due to a radiator split. The cooler will also extend the life of your transmission as depending on the size of the cooler you fit it will lower the temperature of the transmission. Heat is the transmission enemy.
Anybody use a "dual p***" unit? http://www.honestcharley.com/hot-rod-parts/transmission-components/trans-cooler-dual-p***-15.html
