Technical Transportation for equipment ?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by TTR, Apr 5, 2018.

  1. I'm not sure if this is appropriate place to post this (mods are welcome to remove or replace as needed), but I'm looking for recommendations for any reliable and relatively inexpensive (independent ?) transportation options for cross country hauling of some shop equipment.
For example, I might need a stand-alone, medium size english wheel (75"x 65"x 35", 350 lbs) hauled from Riverside, CA to northern Montana, 59484 (near Canadian border ?).

I'm thinking of relocating to Kentucky in the next year or so and I'll want to take my shop equipment, too, so I'm looking forward to any input you guys might have.

There are several great haulers on the HAMB that have consistently good reviews. I personally sold some old vintage dirt track midget stuff to Rick Powell....Racinman and he was a great guy to deal with. He also hauled a g***er for a friend out of Iowa a couple of years ago and did a great job also.

That being said, I am not sure whether any of these "vehicle" haulers would also be conducive to hauling some of the equipment you are talking about.

Because I have dealt with old internal combustion stuff for a lot of years......vintage tractors.....Jeeps.....motorcycles..... vintage farm implements........old airpane parts.... etc., I am a regular on www.yesterdaystractor.com. There is a hauling board on there for guys needing to fill out loads as well as people needing something hauled. I have had stuff hauled a couple of times with good luck. I also have hauled all sorts of stuff on my 18ft. open trailer on trips to and from the West when I was hauling car/truck stuff or going out to get a rusty piece of something.

Guys on the tractor sight are very familiar with moving stuff that doesn't have wheels under it. There are a real wide spectrum of folks on the sight and even some scammers, so please use due diligence.

    Good luck

I have had good luck with EngineShippers.Com
They would handle stuff no one else would touch.
They hauled a '34 rear-end with torque tube for 250 bucks from Utah to Calif.
