I just received my 64 buick yesterday after 6 hours of dealing with a shipping nightmare. I was working when the car arrived. First off the driver calls me and ask if he can unload the car in northgate...?! No, I tell him that I live in seattle, so drive south and deliver to me. After he arrives, my girlfriend met him about 2 blocks from the house. While he is backing the car from the top level, he BACKS INTO another platform...So my girlfriend calls me and I haul ass down there. When I get there, I notice brake fluid on the car below...? I ask him about this, he says "I loaded the car with no brakes) WTF! Then I ask him, If the brakes weren't working, how did you expect to get it off the freakin truck! Long story short, I had to call a flatbed to load the car. After an hour of the tow driver and I telling each other what a total ass this driver was I got the car into my lot. Turns out the brakes were fine when the car was goin on the truck. I called the seller and he tells me the driver DROPPED the car off the first ramp wile loading causing brake failure and a gas leak.Of course when I asked him about it, he denied everything. I have 2 witness statements that I am faxing to the shipper. They told me the guy is fired after this run.My totally awsome girlfriend dealt with this for 6 hours...The shippers are being cool about the situation and I have plenty of photos...I want to file the claim ASAP.
What I need to get are some estimates for the following damage that the driver caused.
    1. Body damgage and repaint. It was a House of Kolors custom pearl, so I figure I have to respray the whole car.
2.Chrome damage to front bumper, I need to repair and replate.
3.Transmission rebuild. (dragging in park/Slamming in park on incline)
    4.Gas Tank repaired.
    5.Brakes repaired.
If anybody knows anybody in the Seattle area that can give me an estimate on any of the above, please let me know.I will never again have a car shipped by somebody I don't know.

    thanks,
    Andre

Go down and see Byers Custom and Restoration in Auburn.. Nothing but quality work.... Does everything from Customs, Streetrods and restoration work for exotics (Pebblebeach concours type).. Jon (owner) and Alan know what they are doing..

  6. We had a guy come in the shop for an estimate. He had a 62? Dart that was hauled on a flatbed. Car was moving around too much so the driver cinched it down by throwing a 3" strap OVER the front sheetmetal! The most perfect impression in the sheetmetal you have ever seen [IMG]

  7. Byers is good, but man are they booked up! Try Rillio's restorations. I had almost the same problem w/ my Vic., took it to the (on insurance money, they're crazy expensive) and they did it right.

    Ask for Kirsten (pronounced Kearsten).

You can also try Extreme metal and paint in Antacortes. They are amazing at their craft. extrememetalpaint.com
Sorry to hear of your misfortune. I had the same problem when i shipp my toolbox out here from Florida. 10ft long by 8ft high. Had to put it on a flatbed tow truck to get it in the rig. When the got here they thought they could rol it down the ramp. Ha!ha! 3200 lbs down a ramp rated for 500 is not a pretty sight. They caused more money in damage than the shipping cost. Had a hard time getting reimbursed from them. So don't let a day go by that you're not in contact with them.
