The Tremec TKO will bolt to a standerd bell housing. A ford TKO will fit a ford. Chevy TKO to a chevy. The only adapter for TKO is ford trans into a chevy and its a spacer for the longer input.
Lakewood makes a bellhousing that will put the Ford TKO behind a SBC. It's a big can that will take a big flywheel and is a bit deeper to take the longer Ford inputshaft. In a big car like a '55, the size isn't an issue. In a '28-'32 it can be. I've been down that road. The easy way would be to sell / trade the Ford TKO for a Chevy TKO and have more options. Having said that, I think Forte's in MA does sell the spacer plate as mentioned above to put a Ford TKo behind a SBC. It was engineered for the Camero's before the Chevy TKO was available. I'm not sure if it lays the tranny over, or not. Give them a call. They do a lot of Tremec conversions and are usually good on the phone.
i put tko behind my sb ford even with all the so called correct parts it was a real pain everything seemed to be a problem.
