I was talking to David Guymon the other day and he mentioned that the "Trendero" was for sale.
He thought that it was the koolest kustom pick up of all time. Sorry to say I didn't remember the truck,
so I started looking for pictures last night and all I could find were the pictures printed in
The American Custom Car by Pat Ganahl. Does anyone have any pictures of "Trendero" in its prime?

    Happy Trails,

    Mick

Early Sixities.....Gold Flake!!! Last night I looked through my Custom Car annuals
without any success. I thought "google" would have something but I didn't find much.
    Thanks for the help.

    Happy Trails,

  6. I just found that article in a Rod and Custom and re-read the other day. Unfortunately, it's in a box with about 70 other Rod and Customs that are being packed up. It had pics of it in all kinds of different incarnations.

If it helps, it was a pile of '95-'98 Rod and Customs.

The guy that owned that Cadillac lives right down the sreet from my fire station. He recently sold it for 52k dollars. Name's Richard House. Nicest guy in the world.

He's the guy that builds the fake hemi heads for SBC engines.

I laughed my *** off when everyone was bagging on those things. The dude builds one of the finest customs ever and all they wanted to do was rag on the guy for making fake hemi heads for Chevies.

He takes the money from them and build cool ****.

    What a loser huh?

I'm a huge fan of Guymons!! Willing to do something wild and different.
My favorite Guymon kustom is the sectioned 40 Ford. I'll never forget
when He trailered right out of the barn and brought it the Hangin Dice.
Below is a picture of it from the Sk 500.

Anyone have any luck finding pictures of Trendero?

    Happy Trails,

    Mick

David Guymon is a ruler. I always love talking to him at swap meets and shows...Super-nice un***uming guy, with more talent and custom/kustom knowledge than you can shake a stick at. One of these days I'm going to get up to his place.

And Richard House rocks too. Another super-nice guy. He GAVE me some shoebox parts at last year's Ballpark swap meet just because he liked my car. Amazing. The fake hemi heads are a little goofy...but so was the Pocket Fisherman, and look at Ron Popeel now! [IMG]

Anyway, I have some pics of the Trendero somewhere in my stash. I'll see if I can find them tomorrow.

He sure does and as B*** said in his post is a super nice guy.

I always enjoy talking with him. Me a a buddy talked to him for a few hours at the Pate one year and I am convinced that Guyman knows the whereabouts of just about every Kustom Kar around and the history of who has owned them.

B***, I think we just need to pick a weekend and hit the road up to his place.I'm tired of saying I'm gonna go sometime. I think its time for action.

In 1989´s the Trendero was shown in R&C, it said that was stored in the back of The Trend shop in Chicago in the early 80´s. It was featured in Petersens Spotlite book 20 Top Customs back in 1962, see photos below.
(Can I add that it also was shown in Lead News #12, published in 1993? In a feature were I tried to track the cars in 20 Top Customs 33 years after it was published...)

Thanks guys for the pictures. Don't you guys just love the early sixties.
I don't think that you could make a kustom to wild. I wonder what Trendero's
headlight treatment would look like on my Merc.

See ya guys in a couple of weeks in Denison....

Not trying to be a bashing ***** or anything, and I usually like most 60's customs, but holy ****! That thing is hideous!

    Sorry, just my opinion.

Thanks for the kool detail shots of the front end & the name of the magazine
the pictures were taken from. I'm in the process trying to locate these mags.
I'm also getting some kool ideas for the Merc and this was a big help.

Repoguy, I understand your opinion, a lot of the Kustoms built in this era is not
for everybody. The reason I'm a huge fan, it stretches the imagination.

Mickey, I have to side with Repoguy.
If you like that THING, then you gotta like the 50 Ford you saw at Bill Daniels place.
That is not stretching the imagination, that is caused by halucinating. They used some weird stuff in the 60's.
By the way, I talked to bill at Saturday night cruise, and he will take a little less than he has been quoting for the 50 lincoford [IMG]
