Does anyone know if there is an online service manual for a 56 Chevy 235. I've got a problem with the rocker ***embly not oiling. Not sure what's the problem. Or if someone has a service manual that has a diagram of the oiling maybe post it. Someone has boogered the oiling tube that feeds oil to rocker ***embly. It looks like someone cut it off right at the top of the rockers so it is just open. When I blocked it off, it would then oil ***embly. Now it won't.

This is from a '57 shop manual. Save to disk and open with picture and fax viewer to blow it up. (if you have windows)

Your problem may be that the oil groves inside the rockers are plugged with ****. I had this happen to me.
Blocking off the tube PAST the point where it intersects with the rocker shaft is the correct thing to do. Pull your rocker and shaft ***embly (carefully, it's in three main pieces) and dis***eble it taking great care to layout everything as it comes off in the correct order. Remove the rockers from the shafts and look inside them. there shold be a grove cut that goes all the way around the inside of where the rocker rides on the shaft. If not, take something slightly pointed and clean out the groove. make sure you clean the oil exit hole also. Lube up and re***emble. To test it after you have re***embled the rocker ***embly and re-installed it onto the motor, try this: Remove distributor (I know, some of you are crying that this involves re-timing and re-running the sparkplug wire...whaa) and then print the iol pump with a long cut off straight blade screwdriver inserted into your drill. Crank away to see if the oil is distributing properly throughout the rocker ***embly. It should.
Put it all back together and run the hell out of it...

Igor, I believe that one of the head bolts has a groove on it to let oil flow. Sometimes when an engine is put back together, the bolts are mixed up and flow is restricted. Check the inliners' site to investigate.
