I was lent this car to build headers on. A one off set are no problem. What I need is to set the engine in the "stock" local. It has a speedway straight front axle and has the engine set way up and forward to clear steering.
I need some measurements of cars with 409 in "stock" local. Crank center and center front ex port to ??. Steering gear? It has the stock box. Do alot of you guys run this or go to a rack set up? I need to build a production set of headers for this car with 409.
    Thanks,
    Jerod Jardiine

Jerrod, since the 55 only came with a six or the 265 small block, I'm not sure how you will decide on a good "Stock" location. I know what you are attempting, I was thinking of that offering too, but unless you use a commercially available set of mounts, or sell your own with the headers, you are opening a can of worms.

Don beat me too it. A mount and header combo is the way to go.

I'm not really familiar with 409's and I can't tell from your pics whether or not the frame still has the stock bellhousing ears or not. If it does, get a set of stock V8 mounts for the bellhousing and see if the motor will fit without moving it foward. If it does fit level the motor and build some proper front mounts. However if the heads are gonna interfere with the firewall, space the bellhousing mounts foward and then proceed with your front mounts. I'd cut the stantions that the motor is presently sitting on out and just start over.
