Any Tri 5 Chevy owners here? Trying to come up with a A pillar solution. I can get a patch panel for a convertible, its got a lower windscreen height of course. What I need to know is the bottom radius of the windscreen the same as the sedans? If it is I just cut the top of the A pillar (like the red line if the attached file worked) and use the lower section...but they need to be the same radius at the bottom to meet & match the windscreen. Anyone know? Thanks
Roper, I just stepped out to the barn and compared my 57 4dr sedan to my dad's 57 2dr hardtop and they appear to be the same, looking at the trim. As I'm sure you well know, the hardtop and convertible shared the same windshield. I looked on Danchuk Manufacturing's website (danchuk.com) and the lower front windshield moulding (the part that covers up the rusty area on your car) is the same piece, regardless of the tri-5 it fits (does not work on 1955 150). Being as the patch panel is for a convertible, there's a chance it could be made of heavier gauge metal, since its semi-structural? Don't quote me on that, I am really not sure. Anyways, hope this helps! -Philroy
There is a guy on the trifive website named Roger Marcum who produces these.... Be advised there are three layers there, you need to fix all three to maintain any strength in that area. Here is a thread where I did that same repair using donor parts, it may show what you have in store.... http://www.trifive.com/forums/showthread.php?t=90543 .
