Okay doing a basic install on a 57 chevy putting a V8 using stock front mounts, We came across 2 different length studs for the rubber biscuits to slide through, One is rite at 1" gap between the rubbers an the other is 2.5" between. So were 6 cylinder and V8 different lengths? I did some looking around at vendors and it appears there is only one part number and the pciture look like the one I am using. the whole reason I started researching this was because the tie rod was hitting the drain plug on a stock 283 Oil pan when turning all the way each way. raised a flagsince they came with 283's. I looked at a different oil pan and the one on the 283 is 2" wider front to back that the other I have. that would give plenty of clearance. heres a couple shots of the rod / bolt I am refering too
If they were different lenghts then why do they only offer the short length now? Was V8 the long one or vise versa
If the picture on the right is the longer of the two, it appears longer than the one my parts book shows for the v8. H&H Cl***ic Parts Catalogue.
Yes the pic on the right is the long one. the one istalled is hopefully the correct one?????? Based on the catalogs, etc. If the picture is rite?
Went and measured the mounts on a v-8 '55 im working on in the shop and it has 1" between the bisquits.
