    I managed to get this old 55 bought on Saturday. I've got a 427 on my engine stand that I'll put in it and some 10" and 3 1/2 " slots and leave the rest like it is.

    Did ANY gassers have 10 spokes in-period? I thought they had to have front brakes. The only period picture that ever seems to turn up with cast spokes is a really modified '57 that I think was classified as an altered, and I think those are 12 spoke spindle mounts.

    I've never seen a picture of a gasser with spokes from back in the day. Like you said, the rules called for 4 wheel brakes so spindle mounts were out.

  18. No spokes, front brakes yes. The altered class ran spindle mounts and no front brakes. They had parachutes.
