This is such a good lookin car. Nice as hell. I'd like to chrome my cage like that when I get it done. Bet that chrome costs an arm and a leg
Looking at this ladder bar set up and I,m wondering.....If the ladder bars are mounted solid to the rear diff tubes "even though they are heim joints" and mounted to the frame at the front, would the bars tend to bend or snap off when the diff moves straight up and down? The way I see it the front of the bars would move up and down in relation to the rear diff going up and down. That is unless some how the diff tubes turned slightly as they went up and down.I can understand how they stop rotational twist of the housing but I don,t understand how they can last with the up and down travel of the diff with the leaf springs. Someone please school me on this....
we use a spring shackle on the front of the ladder bar to allow it to move for and aft while the springs go up and down, werks great. or float the rear end .
Got a pic of that set up? I bought a set of swap meet ladder bars and wondered about the installation at the frame end. Thanks in advance!
Gasser55: that altering job is so good it's hard to tell it was altered. You notice something isn't quite right wheelbase wise but it looks ok. Then you look again and voila. Very smooth job!
I found this site fucking around on the web.Its the biggest collection of gasser photos Ive seen....God bless whoever put this shit togetherEnjoy http://public.fotki.com/redlinetoys/gassers/
I just had to try one more time to get my car on this thread! This is my gasser car ,and its never finished! AS WE ALL KNOW!
I hope to straight axle this car. Notice the mangled up frame horns. Any good construction pics of straight axles out there?
this is my favorite 55 ever ok maybe tied with Falfas 55.I have always admired this beauty, anybody know what happened to it??
One of my high school buddies built this car in the late 60's. I bought it from his estate and put it back in running condition as a tribute to him. You can read about it on my website.
That is a very neat story. Sounds like you are the one that deserves the car, After ME of course. Good for You! That's a great Car! B
That 55 comes from Chicago about the early 70's........Peter Pan of Chicago posted that pic and has more of this old street freak.........he be the man to ask more about this heavy Chevy.
What can I say liked two movies made in the 70,s and combined them. Should be running the car down the strip of the first time on the 24th at Ballarat.
