    heres another opinion about this...

i have shot a couple cars with just base coat and ive sprayed sprayed one with the hot rod flatz. when i sprayed the base coat, i fist mixed it with dupont's base coat activator. it makes it harden and less prone to problems this way. once you put it iin the paint, you cant save any when your done. so be careful. i think just base looks the smoothest out of all.

Again not familiar with DuPont, but most activators are really only accelerators. They help speed the recoat times when working with multiple layers. I think it might be more of an urban myth that activator will make it less prone to problems. Whatever the case, its still not sealed from moisture which is the biggest enemy.

  3. so let me get it rite. to sum it up.
hot rod flatz is a preflattened single stage paint... primer/paint/ no clear.

And other option for same look is regular primer/base/flattened clear....
and concesis is that its trickey to lay down

    Not even close.

In all fairness, the OP did mention posting more pics after Roundup.

TCP Global supplies a medium reducer with the Flatz paint. Try a slow reducer as most who have used this paint find it dries too fast

You may want to read some reviews on Southern Urethanes flat clear. I have read some that say it is very good and easy to use. I used Klearcote TM Satin and that stuff is pure shit...you have to mist the crap on or your truck will shine like a new penny! Had to sand mine down after applying what i considered a light coat,,I had applied 1 1/2 quarts to the whole truck and it shone!. Keeping flat paint without a clear is way too much work to try and keep clean of bugcrap, grease etc

  15. HRF has a new bunch of colors out, the wider selection should make the paint even more attractive. The downside is, there's no way to get chips/samples without paying for a $36 spray-out on a card. They don't even have a sample board at their place down in San Diego. Some of the new colors are worth consideration for a project coming up, but... color is too critical to be pickin' it off a computer screen.

I found it, I'd had it saved and the other night I clicked on it and it said Page not found, checked TCP site and was to blind to see it. I really like that color on his truck, it looks a lot better than it does on the site. I was going to get the medium kit and buy reducer. My car needs something with out shine, I'm getting it ready to drive, my hands can't handle all the block sanding any more. Thanks for the help.
