Howdy Folks, After waiting months and reading a lot of spam about them, my mailman delivered this today. They never ran off with my money. The slip covers are beautiful. Bob
You guys need to raise your expectations. Getting one issue a year for a magazine that was sold as a quarterly is not impressive. You paid for 4 a year and got one. If you went to a store and bought something that was 4 for a dollar and they only gave you one, you would be pissed, why are you happy with this screwing?
In a world where it's so easy to complain about a lot of things, can we please have some positivity? They could have said F it and gave up. Instead, they are trying to make it work. For everyone's benefit! So the next time you are reading a Rodders Journal, think about all the work and the whole process it takes to put one issue together and mail it out. Could you do it? Would you even try?
Did you know that Steve lost two pallets of packaged and addressed magazines from the post office during covid? That's a lot of work down the drain. I for one might have gave up. Bob
He "lost" them or he didnt pay what he owed the mailing house so they destroyed them? Big difference. I have never bought the story that the mailing house just randomly destroyed them that some seem to claim.
& the USPS is joke to get any thing resolved or in touch with , I was on Hold one time for over 8 hrs DC main office on my second phone line just to see if any would answer Not !!! While on HOLD 5 hrs in I called from another Phone , ultimatum said closed but was still on hold on the original call !!!! & "" USPS NEAVER @ FAULT !!!
Did he pay for his space at his last NSRA? No pay, no play. Remember what Wimpy's catchphrase was on Popeye's comic strip?
I actually started to subscribe around my birthday, but only read a couple of posts that were going on at the time and decided I'm not in Vegas playing ****s so I didn't. Then I seen this post and knew I'd made the right decision. For giggles I went back and read all the older posts and all I can say is boy did I feel sorry for Ron. Has to be a stand up guy to put himself in that position, my hat off to you sir !! Then it dawned on me how sad it was that you had to contact an outside source to get hold of the inside source to even get a reply from the customer service dept to get a reply to your emails!! Kind of like calling a big guy "tiny" or a fat guy "bones". Customer service Anyway it's been an interesting read and a stellar decision on my side... ...
Ok, here's the positive...... albeit with my personal caveat. Even though TRJ is a fantastic hot rod publication, and even though it is one of the last still trying to stand in the battle with internet media, and even though I hope it can find a way to continue, I just can't be on board with the way they have treated their client base during their difficult times. Disrespect is disrespect no matter how good the magazine is or how much we want it to continue. The magazine has never been the issue in question. The at***ude however, is a different animal altogether. They still have a lot of bridges to rebuild....... and they still don't seem interested in doing this. I would be more than happy for them to prove me wrong.
Well I see it as I buy 4 tires from Coker, they finally send me 1 tire and tell me the other 3 will be there soon, then after awhile I find out they changed their sales and the price now is only for one tire but they are willing to sell me the rest and send them to me when they can. Might be weeks or months but no one knows for sure and they won't answer the phone or emails to let anyone know. How many on the hamb would stand for that ? Listen I hope that they really are trying, trying to make it right with the consumer and save the magazine. Not just trying to keep a paycheck coming in. Went thru that with some small stocks, they did just enough to keep the doors open and keep that fat check coming every week even at the expense of shareholders... ...I really do wish them the best of luck but they really need to address the consumers. At least for me before I put money behind them. ..
I wonder if @Moriarity could possibly combine the three active threads into one so there could be less information getting to one and not the two other threads. This has been going on since'24 and neither side will give in. Just an opinion, not taking sides.
It has already been started........ and here's the kicker, it was way back in April 2025. Check it out. It is a real funny read. I have to wonder if the guy that started the thread feels a bit sheepish.... https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/trj-88.1333555/#post-15552251
So, I only see three possibilities. 1. Things improve, communication is restored, issues begin to appear four times a year(but acknowledging not a return to original publication dates). Everybody happy? Admittedly this won't occur short of a major miracle 2. Things continue more or less as they are-terrible communication/absent customer support, occasional issues with same high quality when they appear. Some people are happy they got something. 3. TRJ quits. Acknowledges overwhelming issues and joins other publications gathering dust in our collections. Nobody gets anything.. Are you happy, now? Personally, Option 2 ****s but is better than Option 3
I hope for the best but expect it to limp along without communication. In other mag news, I was at Tractor Supply for other stuff and saw this at the checkout. Nice, and had to get a copy for the article, even though my T is far from stock!
@5window with all due respect, I wouldn't except #2 from any vendor I dealt with. Either the vendor can fulfill their side of the sales or they can't. If they can't then they need to change their sales practices or close their doors. If they were being honest they would have closed doors some time ago because I doubt most who have bought subscriptions from them would have never done it if they were told their business model is #2, I sure didn't. Sorry but I believe myself and most people don't spend hard earned money for crumbs... ...

Now I might not like the price or the taste of my food but I know I what I'm being served when I lay my money down. ...
