Does anyone know if TROG rules are ok with fiberglass bodies? I know that car body must be a pre - 34. I am looking at building a 1923 or 27 T roadster and want to make sure fiberglass bodies will pass inspection.
Year: Car body must be 1934 or older, American made only Engine: 1948 or older, American made (1949-1953 Ford flatheads are acceptable) No stock 1949 Overhead Valves are excepted. Fuel: Gas only, no Alcohol or Nitro Running gear: 1953 and older. No modern transmissions, disc brakes, alternators, etc.
Rules are strict but keeps it legit... Bend the rules here and there, next thing you know it will be just another street rod show. That's what makes it so nice.
Any oiler members on the HAMB that can tell me for sure? East coast meet sure had a lot of street rod roadster, all with full lights & Lic plates! I hope it stays old school, built in your garage, 40's & 50's style.
If the fiberglass body was not built in 1934 then it will not be accepted, they want the real thing. http://theraceofgentlemen.com/racing-qualifications-and-entry-information/
Their rules aren't strict, it just makes it hard for someone who isn't motivated enough to meet their criteria. Look what happened with Billetproof, they had rules, but didn't enforce them and after Kirk left it became a free for all kinds of cars to make it in.
Fiberglass Just doesn't fit the spirit of the event even if it is acceptable. I wouldn't want to take a glass car to an event like this!
My Roadster is all pre 48, I shall drive up to the event and watch what goes on this year as the A Bone hasnt had any road miles since I purchased it as the guy who had it previous fitted engine too far back it touched firewall, so had to move everything forward an inch and a half, but looking forward to seeing how this event goes, hopefully it will get bigger as we need this, East coast has a great event, Pendine back in GB has one and SoCal has been screaming for this for a long time, hope to see some of you there, come say hello.
That's true, but white walls were available at the time. Not that I reaaaaally care, just seems silly to me is all.
Actually no, that isnt the case at all. The same people that enforced the rules when Kirk ran the show were doing it afterwords.
