  2. Pretty harsh!
I'm going no matter what! It was a blast last time. And, there's twice as many cars entered this time.

My track raised the weekly entry fee to race from $45 to $60 last year. But if I do well, and win my class, I will have a chance to go home with $1200 in prize money - maybe $1500 if the car count is high.

Nothing to win at Fla-Bob just a day of waking around looking at cars and watching them race. Last time no pit entry unless you raced. The older I get the less I go where I need to be on my feet all day.
I don’t like paying to park my car so others can look at it much either. There’s one in my city this year so I’m planning on going just because… Luckily there is a lot to do in So Cal every weekend for sure and during the week too.

I also had a blast last time in spite of some of the first time organizational issues. Hopefully they'll get the vintage car parking situation straightened out. But it sounds like there is going to be an even better turn out than the first time so parking might still be an issue. The real question in my mind is access to the pits. How much on top of the one day entry fee of $45.00?

Are they even having a vintage car parking? I don't see that on the website. They do mention having a car show, but not information about that, and since you have to apply to be accepted it doesn't sound like the same thing as vintage car parking. I suspect they are not doing the vintage car parking thing this time, just using that part of the lot for the car show. But that's just a guess, I may be wrong about that. Anyone have any intel on vintage car/hot rod & custom parking?

Thanks for the update. Sounds like I won't be going unless the pit pass is real cheap.

Everyone who is interested in this, email Michelle, the Project Manager at TROG and let them know that you want access to the pits as a spectator. If you don't tell them, they won't realize what the demand is. The email address is:

    info@theraceofgentlemen.com

Every drag race I've ever been to has always had open pits. It is traditional.

As I posted a few weeks ago; $20 and you can wander in the pits endlessly...and it is a legit drag strip.

It is their email address - not a link. Copy the address and put it in your favorite email application.

I don’t think trog has ever allowed non racers to go down into the pits?

costs the same as a good guys show. Dont like it don’t go, maybe go to the show MCjim is spamming?

Lots of complaining about good shows and events going away, someone try’s to get one rolling and it’s a bunch of complaining. No wonder guys stop putting them on.

I agree. I would like to go and spectate but the extra walking would be hard on me. I am one who would like be able to get in the pits but race car pits are usually not the safest place for “lookie loos”.
I as a racer have ALWAYS felt in the pit area race cars have the RIGHT-of-WAY but especially in todays world that’s not the case with most a-holes walk around with a lawyer.
For that reason I say keep non-racers out.
As for shows where trophies are given out …… it’s the store bought whiners…..God help us!

I tend to agree with this. Having been at the previous race and seeing how the pits are set up and the traffic going In/Out I would be leery of opening them up to the public. They'd need to engineer some better plan for the car & foot traffic to reduce the chance of a mishap.

They allowed spectators to go in the when it was in Santa Barbara. I can't remember how much it was. I think $15.00 or so added to the cost of the event.
