No doute this has been discussed before but I'm gonna just stir the pot.
Gilmores needs to put on a TROG type event. Do we have any around Michigan? It could happen the same week as Relix Riot and it would be epic!

I don't know a thing about Gilmores except what I saw in the link but a real "Trog" style event has to have a few specific things.
First and formost a safe place to race with a decent size pit area.
A place for spectators to watch the event and be able to move around to the booths with trinkets and food and restrooms.
Room for that vendor area for both shirts and trinkets and food and beverage.
Parking for said spectators or arranged transortation from parking.

But where would the racing happen? If an air strip or the like were near the Gilmore it would make more sense. Something maybe 30 min away? Would the racing overshadow the Relix Riot? Would have to be a fri-sat event, the riot is a sat event. All this going on the weekend of Woodward as well, usually. Attendance is everything, so the headcount is the make or break. Relix would benefit from extra participants, maybe. Lots to consider and I'm no event planner.

Lots of very straight roads all around the Gilmore. The museum campus looks large enough to handle a racing event. I'd ask the town if you could block off a section of road for the weekend, street racing-yeehaa!!

I doubt the Gilmore would be interested in a race event.

The Relix Rior is always about quality over quantity.

The Gilmore has a themed show every weekend during the summer, and a huge cruise in on Wednesday nights.

Great museum! I took my RV out to it and stayed there for 2 days to take in as much of it as I could. In fact while I was there last year they did a Halloween night for the kids. What a cool place. Camped in their back lot. Ate at the diner. Saw all the buildings and contents.

The Gilmore is on my list to visit, but with the insurance and liability side of a racing event I doubt they would be on board.

Always good to suggest someone else do something. Doesn’t usually work out. Especially if there is a lot of work or money involved.

While the OG is on the beach at Wildwood the airstrip event out west seems to be a success, hence my suggestion. Close by means those who wanna do both can stay in one place for the weekend. Michigan is nearly famous for night racing with the good ol Dirty D (that's the affectionate term for Detroit Dragway) being the leader in that. Always on Sat nights. Good ideas start somewhere, and a Friday nite gig might do. Lots of ppl in the Midwest that like this shit with not many choices. Still, I'm no event planner like I said before and all-in would be a lot of investment and work for the TROG folk.

How about a vintage type drag race right smack in the middle of the US? Maybe southern Missouri? That would be a great place!

  18. It didn't happen this year but will hopefully be happening next year- look up Five Seven Delta. It's a runway drag event in Ray, MI (east side-Thumbish area). The first year they had classes for cars like TROG rails- the Suspects ran theirs, and I was going to enter ours but I ended up having to work.
Search Five Seven Delta on Instagram, that's where I've been following them. Probably the closest thing to TROG we'll get around here.
