My buddy informed me TROG was going to be on the west again in so-cal. I went when it was in Santa Barbara, missed the Pismo one. This one is less than 40 minutes from home which I'm happy about. It's at Flabob Airstrip in Jurupa Valley CA (aka Rubidoux) Dec 9th & 10th. See attached.

    Hello,

Thanks for the info. Hopefully it will not get caught up in the early winter resurgence of the Covid protocols.

Well, that is not the same as going to Santa Barbara, but, for some, something is better than nothing. The setting in Santa Barbara is wonderful, a true vacation location. So, it left an impact. It is too bad it can't be there again.

At least So Cal residents and even in/out of state folks can be freeway close from just about any location. Even inland as it is, the Westward direction an hour away will lead to the beaches and the Orange County coastline. More time added if you want to go to the Los Angeles/San Diego beaches. YRMV

Yeah, timing kinda sucks. Decembers are always full, worst possible month to hold an event IMO. Still, I will try to go. It's close to home, no travel or overnight stay required; and I could go to the races on Saturday and potentiall still do a gig that evening, depending on the start time.

    From online entry info:
Engine: American made 4 cylinder and V8 flatheads 1953 or older. OHV 1949-1953, (we will consider engines up to 1960 with vintage speed equipment for the California Drags event), limited though.

    Hello,

So, according to the rules, a new 1959-60 SBC motor, like in the picture above, is eligible in certain cars, like a Gas Coupe or Roadster.

    Jnaki

That would be nice to see. Unless the tech committee looks up factory numbers of historic motors during the tech inspection or the photos and numbers are provided along with the entry form. The proposed rules are including a great era of early drag racing and hot rod builds in pre 1960.

Flabob has had some very historical aviation pioneers flying into and out of that little out of the way airstrip over the years. Great location for staying under the radar (pun intended). ;) The airport is known throughout the world as the home of the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter One. I don't know if their little cafe is still around, but they served some great food there back in the day ... TROG picked a winner if you're into historical locations.

Regardless of how they determine what OHV engines are allowed I plan on being there to watch. Should be a good time.

t.r.o.g._official COMING in HOT!!! ~ In honor of our
#trogtenthanniversary we wanted to finally get back to
the West Coast for some good ole fashion fun!!! %
This wasn't easy, as we searched and searched for
over a year for the right place. Months ago we found a
new home, and it's really been hard to keep a secret!
Flabob Airport was established in 1925 in Riverside
California, it houses many World War Il planes that will
come out of the hangers and sit amongst our hot rods,
motorcycles and Customs on the tarmac while we
    DRAG RACE!!! But...
. the private airstrip will remain open
6 and these planes will fly over head while we race!!!
#trogflyingcircus Friday night is a pre party with a
curated Custom car show and ChOpPeR party!
@nightofthetroglodytes There are old hangers at
Flabob salvaged from all over the US that make up a
tiny city with cross streets! We will stage the party
through these hangers so we can cruise like the old
days of Paso and bang around to different clicks just
hanging! This place is RAD!!! Count on tons of Rock
and Roll, drinks, and gobs of good times! Next Friday
we will drop more info and tickets, etc.
    This show is
going to be special! There is a lot more I need to tell
you about... hold fast, and stay tuned! In! December

It will be a great complement to the East coast event. If it's anything like the Wildwood event it will be a hoot!

Copied off their website.About The California Drags presented by T.R.O.G.

T.R.O.G.'s California Drags is a throwback to the early days of hot rod and motorcycle drag racing. What we like to call, good old fashion FUN! We are paying homage to the simpler days when household mechanics wrenched around the clock. Why? All for a little small town excitement! Even today, as we all grow bored with our daily tasks, work, and duties, we find time to occupy ourselves and our minds, so when the weekend hits we can live a little! So turn the rock and roll knob up, because here we come!!!

Friday, Dec. 9th - (6pm to midnight) - T.R.O.G.’s California Drags Pre-Party featuring Live Rock & Roll, Night Of The Troglodytes Chopper Party, Custom Cars, Hot Rods, and Vintage Bikes!

Saturday, Dec. 10th - (9am to Midnight) - T.R.O.G.’s California Airstrip Drags!!! Live Rock & Roll, all-day racing, and much more

  16. Got my ticket, sounds like there is vintage car parking available. I'll have to see which car gets its turn to be out and about. See you there. pack a lunch and take some shade.
