I had posted a question awhile ago about turning my flathead over and got some great advice.

I tired to turn the engine over the other day

I tried turning it clockwise and the bolt just got tighter and tighter. The engine never turned over I’m afraid if I keep turning the bolt it's going to break off in the crank. I have a feeling I am crushing the washer between the bolt and the crankshaft pully. Any ideas what I can do to turn this engine over with out damaging any internals

pull the front cover and remove the cam gear. Try again and if moves, it s the valve train bound up. Probably won't move and you will find some moisture got in one or more cylinders.

The plugs are out and it has been sitting with diesel in it for a couple months now. I’m wondering if the washer is being crushed and that’s why the bolt keeps turning. The bolt never stops going in to the crankshaft. I’m ***uming that’s why the cars not turning over. Is there a locking washer or something that’s supposed to be on that bolt? When I first started to turn it over it wasn't really tight to start with. It kept getting tighter so I took it all off checked the bolt and the threads; the washer looked like it was bowed in a little. So I flipped it around and put it all together and started turning it clockwise, and it never stopped turning. So I don't know if it's something I’m doing wrong, the washer is playing a part in this? I’ll pull the heads I guess and see where I’m at.

Before pulling everything apart; check the INTERNAL THREAD on the "snout" of the crankshaft.
It's possible that thread is stripped. If it's OK, then go to previously mentioned steps.
    (e.g. - "pull the heads")

If the thread IS stripped; you will need something like a "helicoil" to repair it.
Too many people OVER TORQUE that pulley bolt.
