You know...this one still purrs like a kitten..... Sorry holmes, I had to dig at you just a bit.. I dig your little truck, always liked the 58s. What kind of wheels are you gonna run? See ya, -Abone.
I love the attitude, I'm sick of all the bullshit about what class of vehicle you like too. Who cares if you built it and you like it then screw everyone else. I have to say I like where you are going with this truck, especially the FORD power, it's about time somebody powered a chevy the right way.
Looks like a HILLBILLYHOTRODPARTSHAULER to me!!!! haha........ I agree with ya ALOT Tingler baby..........dig the truck.....nothing wrong with running discs on something that your ACTUALLY gonna USE.....(as long as it's got fenders)...I personally woulda put a 440 MoPar in it.......hahaha!!! Whataya using for a grill???? I see TEETH.....painted white.....with one missin'.....
shoulda left the vontingler on the door. . . other than that, i dig this shit man. keep going. THIS is what its about.
Nice truck -- Good job. To me it's all about what you want to do with it, and what you have to work with. That's what I see in your truck. I like it -- ALOT! But then again, the only box anyone will EVER fit me in will be the one they bury me in.
[6+9- )...I personally woulda put a 440 MoPar in it.......hahaha!!! Pleeeeeze don't laffff too hard. Mine has a 318/904/9"ford
I dang near used a 318/727/Nova rear in my Tudor -- cuz I have an excellent motor & trans kicking around. I also have an excellent running 260 Olds V8 with a TH 200 behind it here that I considered. But I also had a 350/350 SBC -- so I went that way. To me it is about using what you have... and keeping the cost WAY down. I'm thinking I am going to start a new class and fit my car to it. How about a Traditional Hot Street Rat!!!??? Or NOT! I guess I'll stick with what I have always called my car. FUN! Thats what I like about your truck Tingler. It is being built to be useable and FUN.
im glad you are fixing the rot, junking the slug six (nothing cool about going slow) and covered up letting on the door. i have seen enough pretend "vintage shop trucks" to last a life time
I'm thoroughly pissed about classifications too. My '64 Ford is hereby known as a FORD..not rat rod, shit rod, wanna be Kustom nor anything else! Tingler, the TRUCK is shaping up great, and the thought of Ford power in a Chevy makes me all mushy inside...... Jan
Let's cut that first draft down to the important bits. This is all I needed to hear to know that I like it. If you haven't found a good 302 yet I've got a complete '70 Mustang unit here that needs a rebuild but would be the best 302 block you can get (so I'm told).
GEEZ Tingleberry, are you taking too much of your medication or not enough? Looks good to me brother, no matter what anybody wants to call it.
Do what you want. Everyone told me to go with an IFS on my F100, but nope, I like the look of that straight axle. Had to sleeve it on one side to accept new king pin bushings -- thing was worn slap OUT. But I did add a sway bar, gas nitro shocks, and power disk brakes. I still use it to actually HAUL stuff on the farm, and I like the idea of being able to STOP.
yep tingler i reckon that is one cool truck. dont worry about the looks of it. i think ive got dibs on the uglyest bloody truck its a bedford, the barstard child of a english ford. seeya mate
Hey Tingler, why don't ya tell us how ya really feel? LOL I think I'll "CLASSIFY" your truck as Fuck 'em If They Can't Take A Joke.
My '40 Chevy Pick-up was Ford from the radiator to the 8" rearend, I had guys come up to me and say "Ford in a chevy!!! Man you ruined this truck" Oh Well!! Anyway you've got a nice old truck there, have fun.
Great 58. I haven't found one worthy yet. Actually I'm confused though...I thought the whole point of this old car thing was to do what made you happy and got you away from the jellybean, everything looks the same, can't tell without a nameplate crap we see daily. Are you (were you) feeling too much PEER PRESSURE? Build what suits ya. Drive the wheels of it.
"You asswipes are wearing me down with all the classification shit." Haha, I hear that. It's cool to see it happen...build it the way you want...screw the opinions. Thanks for sharing.
Tingler, your terminology has offended me deeply...please refrain from using those words ever again...
I like flatbeds! Oh wait, I mean trucks, er vehicles, er things...nevermind. Anyway, I like that you are putting the flatbed back on. It'll be different.
Tingler, The only "classification" this project needs is its a truck with which to haul stuff. Every hot rodder NEEDS a truck to haul home the parts for the next project and for every other thing you and the family need. I would have installed a diesel to have enough torque to haul stuff. The new ones are a little complicated to install with the computer control but nothing a smart guy with smart friends can't handle. Don't forget to install a good Class IV hitch and a B&W Turnover Ball Hitch in the bed. They make using a goose neck trailer real easy and still leave the flat bed flat when you need it. A Warn electric winch is good to have for hauling out the vintage tin from the mud and underbrush. The hitches and the diesel can wait to be later improvements once you get the hauler up and running. Just consider these suggestions and food for thought.
