Truck will not start... Help anyone?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 1Bad41, Jul 30, 2007.

  1. My truck recently will not start. Before I got in my wreck a few months ago it would sometimes start in park, then after the wreck it would only start in reverse. Anyone know how to fix this problem.

  4. 350 ci gm crate with a 3 speed on it. A buddy of mine said maybe a thottle linkage but that doesn't sound right.

What kinda of shifter does it have. If it's a GM column, check the base of the column. You will see the neutral safety switch. Check the alignment. If theres an aftermarket shifter on the floor, check for the switch in the shifter housing or on the trans linkage underneath the car.
It does sound like an alignment issue.

It's usually just a couple of screws in slotted holes. Loosen them slightly and slide it up or down to put the switch in sync with the shifter.

loosen the screws holding the switch, with the key in the start position and the shifter in park, slide the switch until you hear the starter turn over. Snug the screws. It should only turnover in park and neutral. Shift it through the gears a few times to make certain that it's adjusted properly and then lock the screws down.

  10. Thanks for the help guys, hopefully I can get it done today.
