What a SMALL WORLD.... I owned your Chevy II in the late 90's!

That was the coolest car I ever owned!

When I owned it, it was Sunkist orange with weld drag star wheels, but it was the same car, and it still had the powerhouse 6 cyl with the gluide! It was my daily driver for about a year or so....

I sold it because I had just met my wife she owned a house on a gravel road, the car sat too low to get to her house... So I bought a truck and had to sell the car! then she sold her house a month later and moved to town!!!! I still married her... but DAMN I MISS THAT CAR!

last I knew the car was up around Chicago area?

I know I would like to have it back!!!!

Oh well.... just thought I would add my two cents worth.

Everyday for the last 5 years, 120k+ miles. However it did go under the knife and some friends and I are finishing the body work to get her back on the road along with a new heart transplant.

I'm currently under doctor's orders not to drive, so claiming to have a daily isn't really honest. When I was (and hopefully not too many months from now again) healthy I maintain this as a daily capable driver.

It runs a basically stock GMC 270 with the granny gear 4-speed, but has front disk and the 3.08 rear from a Chevelle. It can cope just fine with 70 mph freeway traffic and for a year at a time I have actually used it as my daily driver.

But I tend to change dailys when I get something new I like and most recently I've been driving an 80's Corvette. Not HAMB friendly but a lot of fun to drive.

I'm also a bit of a fair weather driver. The wipers/defrost in the Suburban aren't great and the 'vette is low and easily swamped by rain so on many rainy NW days I cheat and drive a 4-wheel drive pickup with good wipers and defrost and tall enough I can see where I'm going.

Last time I drove my Suburban it was into the shop to mouthball it till I get well enough to drive again. Since its much easier to climb in and out of than the 'vette I suspect it will be my primary driver at that time.

I really like this thread. Here in TN, I am basically the only one who drives an antique car every day.. (there's one other fellow with a 56 chevy that drives it very frequently, if not every day).
It's encouraging to know I'm not the only one who believes real cars are worth it and amenities are actually a bad thing.

I got this 65 F100 near the end of July this summer. I've put on about 6000 miles on it in 4 months. Currently it is all stock with the 240 six and three speed manual. So far I've had to replace a brake line and some light bulbs. The only bummer about driving it is that the gas mileage is really bad (16 mpg). My old 77 F100 got 23 mpg.

It's the only running vehicle I've got... Been my daily driver since I bought it. Been through alot of repairs since then too. It's constantly evolving. One of these days I'll rebuild the motor in my "new" vehicle ('83 F250) and I can take the '56 F100 off the road for a couple weeks for it's major makeover. For now, I'm racking up the miles...
