i was once told that you cant use mechanical drums with juice brakes, im pretty much wondering if you can use the 36 through 38 wide 5 drums for juice brakes, ive been told a few different thing, just hoping someone may help clear this up
Yes you can. The 36 drums won't work with the later juice backing plates as they are a one year only drum with a different offset. The 37-39 will work fine.
The 1936 fronts CAN be used with 39-40 "deep" Lincoln-Bendix brakes on the original 1936 spindles, as the deep Lincolns have the same small bolt pattern as the spindles. A special kingpin/bearing kit must also be used in order to eliminate the "socket" on the original kingpin tops (which support the car!!! so cannot just cut them off!!!). The same applies to 1935 front hubs/drums. The tops of the spindles must be modified (ground flat) to clear the brake plate... 1935 and 1936 rear hubs have the same offset as 37+ and therefore CAN be used with rear hydraulic brakes (39-42 or 46-48 Ford/Merc or 39-48 Lincoln)
And...'37-38 drums are not only usable, they are in fact the SAME drums used in 1939 for the hydraulics.
dang, i do apprieate the information, ive been told so many different things but byfar that seems the much legit
