Why don't you get a Ford and just swap the roof? ;)

So is it just the deck lid you'd be swapping? Sounds unique and I'd have to see a photo-chop before I wrote off the idea. Anyone out there able to do this so we can get an idea?

have you looked at pictures of Ford trunk area, or actually measured one to come up with this idea? until some one does a photo shop maybe someone has pics of both brands trunk area to so we can at least get an idea of the results of likely a big project.

of course anything can be done if you put forth the effort and have the skills/tools.

take a look at the two trunks, the Chevy is like a big bubble, the Ford is pretty flat from side to side. there is no way to do it and have it come out looking right.

I have a 49 & 50 Fords and don't understand why you want to go thought all that work ? Is there a special reason for this or were you just scratching you head wondering if it would fit ? I guess anything will fit if you have the welding skills but not sure if it would look right or not . Maybe if you have a friend that you can borrow a trunk from and sit in place to see how it will look , that would be an easy way .

Thanks for all the responses guys! Im kinda surprised at all the negative feedback though. this is the hamb (people build crazy kustoms on here all the time, and put a ton of work for a change that is very slight). I would think there would be more of a interest in a positive way for a topic like this. I agree that if there is someone that could do a photoshop version that that would give us a better idea of if this combo would work well or not. I love the bass kustom (his work is amazing, but im thinking of something different then that (plus my car is not a fleetline). Also the reason that i bring this topic up is because i have been playing with the idea (i have a 49 ford parts car) and im building a 49 chevy so i have been thinking of different things to do with the two. I was thinking of also using the quarter panels form the ford on the chevy as well (so maybe that will make more sense). Ether way thanks for all the responses guys! please keep them coming!

my friend did a real fast photoshop version. dont think it is all that bad. (the idea needs a lot of planning of course, but the basic idea seems to flow ok). What do u guys think?

    :p

    You're kidding, right?

Yes. This is the HAMB. If someone thinks you've got a bad idea they're not going to kiss your forehead and hand you a hot chocolate. Obviously I don't know your skillset, but by nature of asking a "Can this be done" type of question, you're putting forth the supposition to this community that you don't already have the skillset to make it come out looking as good in reality as you might be picturing in your head and they'll offer that constructive criticism in ways that you'll hear in shops & hotrod circles around the globe.

If someone more experienced than me told me what I was about to do would come out looking like shit, I could either consider his input as valuable advice and listen - or - just his opinion and do it anyway. I've screwed up my share of cars learning as a kid. (Not that you're a kid or not - irrelevant.)

Personally I think the group has become much more PC over the years and miss the real flamethrowing, Alexandra. You'd 've been lucky to walk out of here without the ass on your jeans smokin'
    Ah, the good old days.

    Man up. Build your car.

    That's awful.

  15. my 52 buick special had a bubble type stock trunk lid ... a slant back buick decklid was a direct bolt on .. of coarse that has nothing to do with your plan but maybe the chev slantback decklid works the same way?

That profile shot isn't bad. It sort of gives off a little '41 Ford vibe. This would just be one of those things that you would have to be totally committed to finishing...you know, "when you get the feeling that it might not look good, but it's too late to turn back" type of feelings. It definitely has potential.
