first let me start by saying its not a barn find, they're in some trees next to a barn. a few weeks ago i was doing some exploring 'round town and i spotted off in the distance on an old farm what appears to be 2 AD chevy trucks and a '50ish ford coupe, there were also many other old trucks (70s and 80s) scatterd about the property. hard to tell for sure what the trucks are, as i can only see the back of them. anyways, yesterday i saw the old lady that lives there out in the yard, so i stopped and asked if she may be interested in selling them, she scowled at me and of course said a firm NO. anyone with experience with this type of thing have any suggestions on how i can talk my way into at least one of them? thanks.

I think your screwed..The 'Ol lady said No..and from where im sitting..thats a done deal

I got a hunch..this aint going to end well..this thread or this trying to get someone to do what you want when they have already given you an answer.

AD trucks are a dime a dozen...move on..im sure theres someone out there willing to sell you one with no hassel

  4. you should have struck up a conversation instead of just asking for them. Talk to her about the trucks, where they came from, whos were they, etc etc.

Sitting down and talking to someone actually goes a long way.

How much do you want them?

You can pester the hell out of her. 2% chance that she will sell it to you, 98% chance she will shoot you. A firm no usually means no. I would move on.

If I told you no and you came back and pestered me, I would fall into the 98% area. :)

Wasn't there a country song awhile back, "WHAT PART OF "NO" DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND"? I've been doing this for 50 years. Move on, look elsewhere. You think your the first one to ask? Every second, minute, hour, day, week, month, year you spend pursueing them is TIME you'll never get back and years later realize what a waste it was.

I agree with the majority. Respect the firm "NO" and focus your energy somewhere else. Don't push their boundaries. Those are not the last vintage wheels on the planet.

Send your wife or mom, & your well behaved kids ... get to know the person, become friends ... help her with some yard work or home repair. Being a nice person goes a long way ...

Smart thing to do is ask around to see who knows here and her situation. Find out what she likes and dislikes. Find out who her close friends are or friends of the family, if you can find someone, get them to do some recon work for you.

Being a nice person does go along way. But, being nice just because you want something? That's really not all that nice. Leave the old lady alone and respect her privacy. That would be nice.

You can also find out if the old junk vehicles violates any local or state ordinance and should be disposed of....let her know this..........then say you'll take them for this price, or i'll report it and they'll take them for free.........

Send her a letter let her know how much you will pay for them.Leave your phone no. She just might have been pissed you were on her property. Include a good story about you and your dad .Always wanted one, looking to restore ,You get my drift Woman like letters for some reason and a good sob story and also money. Woman send thankyou letters .We say have a beer. Night and day

  22. Wait it out. Find out her name. Read the obituaries in the paper. When she is gone contact the relatives and let them know that your are interested in the vehicles. Other than that leave her and the cars alone. OldWolf

  23. Hopefully you are joking.

    Those would be fighting words.

Yup move it on down the line.

I'd be pissed if someone opened my mail box too btw. If you have to leave a note, leave it under a rock at the base of the mailbox or stuff it between the flag and the box itself. People don't want to know you were in their box, trust me. Hell... get the address and mail it to her if you want. That may be even better. 99% chance nothing will come out of it but a more pissed off old lady though...

And then she will shoot you and stuff your body in the trunk, right along side the previous asshats that used that same line on her. :)

This is probably the most chickenshit thing I've ever seen on the HAMB ...

  27. Well, some people have class, and some don't.

If you're for real, you can send a polite letter or stop back one more time, but beyond that I wouldn't push it. If you do send a letter don't commit yourself to a price, in case when you get up close they're crap. But you could offer a minumum price and that you might be able to offer more if you could look them over.

Now this is a good way to fuck up a good day..If some dip shit came on my property with this entitlement way of thinking..My 'Ol lady would be stuffing an 870 in their eye.and telling them to move along.
Good way to end up in a body bag and what a bad example of how were supposed to treat our fellow man..this is disgusting

Who didnt teach this person the meaning of the word ...NO?
same fucked up attitude our government has.."if you dont do what we want..we will just force it down your throat"..

    how embarrassing

I'm with you on this one. "There's a funny thing about that little white spot on top of chicken shit. That little white spot is chicken shit too."
