I'm trying to figure out the location of where exactly the lower steering column bearing goes on a 63 impala. I want to replace it because my actual steering column is all wobbly when I'm steering and shifting in to gear. Anyhow excuse the dumb questions but aside from changing out the signal switch and upper bearing I don't know squat about it.

  3. I think your lower bearing is actually the steering box upper bearing. The shaft is one piece on these, IIRC. Soooo, no actual lower column bearing.

There's a coupling between the column and steering box. So there is a bearing at the lower end of the column.
