Back in 1987-1988 when I was a rental car delivery driver, I saw an old car at a bodyshop, pretty sure it was Fleming Auto Body, somewhere between Rochester and Brockport. It was a weird little two-seater with a body made up of early postwar Oldsmobile front and rear fenders and either a Cadillac or Olds V-8. I always wondered what it was. Well, after meeting up with Geoffrey Hacker from Undiscovered Classics, we figured out what I saw. It's the 1949 Rogue, built by Robert Monroe and shown at the 1949 Watkins Glen Grand Prix. I would like to find out where it ended up and if it was restored. When I saw it it looked like it was partially disassembled for paint and appeared to be completely rust-free. I was told the owner died and the project just sat there. Not sure I'm interested in buying it but would love to know if it survives. Any leads would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
I was living in that area during that time period. Don't recall seeing it. There was a man, my 2 doors down neighbor a Mr. Erwin Latenburger who had a car collection. He told me much of the work he had done to his cars was done at Flemings. Erwin has since passed. and his collection inherited by his son Kyle and a brother in law. I helped move some of Erwin's collection to a new pole barn being built in Brockport. There were auto's already in this Pole Barn before I started helping Erwin and more autos to be moved in after My tasks were completed. Good luck
