Trying to ID a chassis. Who all used torque tubes besides Ford?

Trying to identify a ch***is I found today at a s**** metal recycler. Apparently it was used as a farm trailer, but it appears to be complete and in good condition. It had some heavy paint on it that probably kept it from rusting so much.

Anyway, it had 6 lug wheels. Similar to 40 - 48 Ford rims except they had the spring tabs for hubcaps. The rear end had a removable back plate but the front also bolted in like a 54-62 Chevy except it had a torque tube instead of a driveshaft. Front suspension was parallel leaf springs on a dropped I beam. The ch***is reminded me of 32 rails in the rear the way they kicked up. Didn't look like a truck ch***is. The rails were open on the bottom instead of the side like a Ford and they had a lip on each side the full length. Sadly I had no way to haul it home. Wondering if it would be worth getting depending on the price.

  4. chevy, buick had torque tubes and chevy cars ran 6 lug wheels in the 30's/40's.

  5. Worth getting just for the section with the serial number stamped in, if it's an old enough frame (which it should be)... I thought Chevy also when you said 6-lug.

if it's the kind of chevy I think it is, there's no serial number on the frame....

  7. The 6 Lug denotes it as a Chevycar/ChevyGMC truck etc..
Did you know and Hudson used the torque tube setup thru the 50's till their demise ...Buick til at least '61 and Rambler/American Motors up to at least '64 in their cars?

sure that frame was open on the bottom? sound like a chevy car to me by the 6 lugs and the description of the rear end. chevies had a frame like that but with a plate spot welded to the bottom the full length. it was not open
