I don't have my books at home, I loaned 'em out!!

doing a search on line I come up with various data,

    chamber cc- 104.9, 107, 109 (closed)

    intake valve diameter 2.06, 2.19

    exhaust valve diameter 1.72, 1.88

but I don't see any numbers on port runners..?

also a few applications, COPO L-78/L-71/L-72

looks like a good candidate for a dual grind cam,

prepped right, your buddy should be able to make a streetable 450-500 HP relatively easy.

    what block?

I had a set of those. It's your basic closed chamber, rectangle port iron head.

Not bad heads, but I would hold out for a set of open chamber heads. They flow better and there are a whole lot more choices for pistons. Save your pennies and get aluminum heads while you are at it.

yeah, there's lots of better choices out there, some of the recent aftermarket stuff looks good, like the AFR heads fer instance but,

and I repeat, if the combo is done right that motor is gunna kick ass over almost any other pre '69 motor.
