That paint looks great. I really liked the red wheels in contrast to the black body. But it's not my car. Drive the shit out of it man.

    Chris,

I know you weren't asking for input but if it were mine I would lose the trim by the fuel door. It breaks up the look of the rear fender by adding clutter and draws attention to itself. It also will hold dirt and moisture.

That's my two cents. Beautiful car by the way. I am very envious of your ability to continually find these diamonds in the rough.

  3. Thanks Steve, I actually sourced that out, as I love stupid old accessories like that. I can see your point, but this car is just a driver anyways, it's nothing too special. Plus they actually do protect the paint around the fuel door when opening the door or refueling

As for the diamond in the rough- these cars are all over. And that's half my battle...I never know when to say "no"

  4. Picked it up last night, fender fixed and loose parts painted. All turned out great. I started putting it back together, got the rear of the car buttoned up last night

Nice looking coupe Chris! It is always fun to see you find and transform these Fords into great drivers!

  7. Well, buttoned it up last night and this morning, and took it for about a 50 mile
Drive. For it being pretty much on the bump stops (spring settled), it runs and drives nice. I'm going to install the dropped axle and a stock spring, and hopefully the stance is pretty much the same. Still have to decide on a color and paint my wheels, install the rebuilt steering box, etc. but it's on the road for now. Lucy got to go on the maiden voyage

  8. Excellent work as usual Chris. Found this thread from a link on the "old paint" thread and glad I did. Learned a lot.

    Lookin good.

I'm pretty sure the color you were looking for on the wheels is "Chrome"

  11. My opinion only, I would leave the steel wheels, caps and trims as they are, they make that car...

    Chris,

The car looks great! Enjoy it.

  13. The wheels and tires are not mine, and I have to paint my wheels before I mount my tires. I am torn between black or a surprise color. I'm leaning more twards black however. The caps, inner beauty rings and trim rings will stay on it

  14. Do you have a link to that thread?

Robins egg blue would be fine as well as a straw color but even gold would look good on it. My fav would be chrome reversed.

does that mean you have inner beauty ?

  17. The secret color was that 60's Pontiac engine light blue metallic. But I still think black will be the color of choice

Great looking Coupe. Those red wheels sure looked great with the black body.

  19. I painted my wheels tonight some boring black laquer. Also polished the caps and trim rings.

That is coming along very nicely. I was hoping the surprise wheel color was chrome, but boring black lacquer is looking pretty darn good!

  23. I'll be honest, chrome wheels are about my least favorite wheels on a car. I don't know why, I just don't care too much for them.

I kinda have a thing for '40 inner rings. I put some on my sedan a few years ago and really like them. Not too mainstream yet.

  28. Got a small batch of chrome back yesterday, so now I can mount my license plate. With the trunk lid shaved I thought it would be clever to use the front license plate gaurds/mount on the rear. Took a little modifying but worked well. Had the ash tray lids done was well and also got the radio in

    image.jpeg image.jpeg

And after the fender being painted a week I wet sanded it and buffed it. Turned out really nice...especially beings I don't know what I'm doing. Whole car needs cleaned again now
