woke up to warining sirens this morning , waves are suppose to be rolling in at about 11:00 due to an 8 earthquake in Chile. No estimate on how big this may be, Batton down the hatches Hawaii Hamb'rs, hopefully this will not be bad. My shop is right in the evac. zone on the harbor so i'm crossing my fingers.

Hope everyone remains safe. They are saying it could also hit mainland west coast and as far north as Alaska.

Stay safe. The earthquake that hit near Chile was an 8.8. That's an unbelievable number.

Local news is saying that they don'y know how big the waves will be but saying that " this will be a significant event, with dangerous waves that can cause property damage". but still not issuing a mandatory evacuation for the low lying areas. we got about 3 more hours til the big island is suppose to see action. Feelin for everyone in Chile man, that ****s!

Just got off the phone with my buddy who owns a surf camp at the Southern tip of Nicaragua, and there's been no tsunami; it was supposed to hit around 0852. I'm sure your son is okay in C.R.

Absolutely,, don't waste time watch the signs,,because you can't get it back. It reminds me of when the water receeded and all the people ran to the beach to see the wonder not knowing the tsunomi was next.
And another thing that sux with this new world order media control as there is NO news about it here at all.

Yup we got the warning here in New Zealand too
We are the first bit of land across the Pacific from Chile in the easterly direction. I'm thankful we built up high in the hills rather down on the flat like most of the other yobbo's here in Auckland. Damn if I am going to loose my cars to fashionable cliff living people on the beaches

  23. Saw the news this morning...my best thoughts and wishes go out to all those who have been, and might be, affected by this m***ive earthquake!!

I'm on Maui, but am high enough that it won't afffect me. I plan on sitting out on the back porch with my spotting scope and some cold beers and watch to see if anything comes in. We are supposed to be in the "wave shadow" of the Big Island for this one, but if it's big enough, the "wrap around" effect will get to us anyway. Two more hours for us.....

Yeah, it looks like the Tsunami has just reached the Chathams and should be hitting the East Coast of NZ in the next hour or so. The first wave was only 20 cm (8") and all have been warned that the next ones could be larger, hitting Auckland in a couple of hours from now. Wave size is predicted to be between 1-3 metres high. Just as well I live well inland - can't afford a beachfront property, anyway.

My thoughts go out to our Chilean brothers and sisters and their families and those who might be affected by the tsunami.
