Just p***ing along information on a new tube bender. The nice part is the tight bend it will make as well as large radius bends. It is worth the $22 it costs if you want to do a set of brake lines. The bender is sold by Eastwood Automotive Tools and Supplies in PA. (www.eastwood.com). No connection, just a satisfied tool user.

  2. Your brake lines look great, but are you sure you used that tool? It looks like a monster wire stripper...

Will this tool make bends from scratch or is it for making adjustments in
already bent tubing? Always looking for a better way to bend lines. Bending
lines accurately always gives me problems.

    Old Rod,

Yes, it will make bends from scratch as well as adjustments to existing bends. That is another good feature, you can reach into tight areas and tweek the tube a little while it is still up close to the frame.

All the bends in my brake lines were done with this tool. I only had one screw-up where I had the tool turned the wrong way trying to adjust a sharp bend. You have to be cautious that you have it turned the correct way for the bend/adjustment. One side of the tool has the two curved grooves, 3/16 & 1/4, and the other side is flat.

  5. thanks for posting a review on this tool... it looked cool and i was thinking about getting it... it looks awesome for doing tight radiuses

THanks for the tip! I was going to look for some kind of bender at the next swap meet. But, for $22, I'll try that one! Good work!

How about some better pics of that front spring perch. I like how it's hidden and subtle looking...

    FY'n,

There are some project photos at http://photobucket.com/albums/v174/Threebytheknee/?sort=descending

They show the present setup as well as the first one with the coil-overs. The perch is just 1/2" plate with an angle iron wrap-around on the back side of the crossmember to add some strength.

    3bytheKnee,
Thanks for the info on the tube bender. I was looking for one myself.

I looked at the pictures of your car. Great job! Its similar to what I want to do. Who's body did you use, Brookville? Only one problem I see. You have one of those sbc thingies where the flathead should be. Don't mind me. I'm old and think the only engine worth using is a flathead.
