Not to be a dork or anything, but... After buying the kit, installing it, and buying new tube shocks, you might have the same amount invested if you just rebuilt the knee-action stock shocks. Mine rode great on my '54 Special until the seals went out (they were original unrestored at the time, but in pretty good shape). Check Hemmings for a rebuiler of them, or www.buickclub.org and post for a source. I keep going back and forth about this same thing for my car--I'm planning on an open driveline conversion at some point, and this may become an issue. But I'm keeping the 12-inch rear drums, and converting to finned aluminum drums--so I might just keep the backing-plate mounted shock system. The other issue is the tube shocks and mounting (I'm guessing it'll be a cross member) are going to create another obstruction to snake exhaust pipes around. It's been a while since I checked on the price, but I think sending the shocks out to have them restored/rebuilt was around $180 for a pair, plus core charge if needed. Don't remember for sure, though. Yeah, $200 SUCKS for shocks, but like I said, it might be in the same ballpark, but without all the work and other hassles. -Brad
I was hoping to find a picture of the kit so I could " rip the idea off " And also thats what my customer wants so that what he gets.
