What are the downsides, if any, of using tubes in tubeless tires? My wheels have corrosion on the inside rims and can not seal a tubeless tire but I'd rather not switch to bias tires if I can avoid it.

  2. If the tires are radials, you'll need radial tubes (which may be very hard to find these days). They'll also build up heat more, so check your tires carefully if running for long distances at higher speeds.

I'd dismount the tires and take a wire wheel to the rims, then put a nice, thick coat of paint on them. If they're corroded so bad that this won't work, replace them....

I'd use Por-15 on the rims.

  5. What is the difference between Radial tubes and the other types? I have always stuck tubes in as long as they were the right diameter, (never checked what type it was) and never had one let go or deflate by itself.
It's just a big rubber bag with a valve in it, isnt it?

Trust me there is a diff on radial tubes, radial sidewalls flex much more than bias so tube need to be made to take this. Radial tubes work in biasjust fine, most tubes ,at least around here, seem to radial aproved.
