Customs Tubes for artillery wheels

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 604birdman, Nov 1, 2022.

  1. Hi guys, I’m having a hard time putting together some 6 lug 16” artillery wheels. I’ve tried 2 different tubes and the stems don’t seem to be in the right spot. Or the hole in the rim is in the wrong spot? I’m having to use tubes because the wheels are heavily pitted.
I bought a 16” tube and it almost seems too big in the inside diameter area when inflated.

the stem as also under load when inflated.

I see pictures of other artillery wheels wirh the stems in diff spots.

15” motorcycle tubes with the angle valve work fine in 16” tires. They have threaded stems. I buy them at motorcycle supply stores, the are usually Kenda’s. They are in my El Mirage/Bonneville tires.

Go to Coker website and buy the tube for your size wheel (16”) and tire (7.00x16 maybe?). Make sure to get the TR13 offset stem, as this will fit all hole sizes of stem. Also see if they can send a valve stem washer, which is a little plastic washer that protects the stem from the rough edges of the wheel hole. If they can’t, your local wheel vendor should have them.

If you need to buy a TR15 stem it will only fit the larger holes wheels, which might still be OK for that old wheel.

Radial tubes are OK in a bias ply tire, but not the other way around.
