Dropped my new M/T whitewall slicks off at the tireshop with my Ansen Sprints. Told the guy to remove the old slicks and toss the tubes and put valvestems in the rims. When I picked 'em up he said the chamfer for the valve stem was so big that the stems kept popping through? He put the old tubes back in (He said they looked fine) and mounted the new slicks. My Question is anybody running tubes in there Radir-M/T slicks? Any problems?
Don't have Radir slicks, but with slicks in general, if you run tubes, the rims should have screws on the bead to keep the tires from spinning on the rim and tearing the valve stem from the tube when it hooks up. I've done this on ET Streets and had to eat a new tube. I had the same problem with valve stem holes in the wheel as well, someone makes an oversized valve stem so you don't have to run tubes, don't remember where I got them though.
hey curly, i worked at tire shop and we had over sized valve stems. they are for older truck wheels they had a bigger hole. and we had oversized steel ones that had a nut to hold them down. i'll check tommorow to see what i can find. and you will rip the stems off the tube if it hooks.
