Do you guys run tubes in your slicks? I am mounting M/T ET slicks on an aluminum wheel.

  2. Couldn't get them to hold air without tubes and we had to screw em to the rim>>>>.

Coated the inside with Dawn soap and run them on weld wheels without much trouble.

I ran Radir Cheaters. They lose about 5# a week without tubes. Finally had to install tubes when some knucklehead shot a pellet into the sidewalls at a show.

Yes, I run tubes on ET Drags and ET Streets, and that mandates running wheel rim screws.

The only time I didn't run the tubes is when I didnt want to drill holes into my wheels for rim screws, and they did leak but it wasn't bad as long as I kept an eye on tire pressure.

tubes, the only issue I have with air pressure is that the pressure creeps UP as the tempurature goes up or as I make alot of back to back passes. It is alot easier to to let air out in the staging lanes than it is to add pressure.

    just my 2 cents

Ya...I didnt want to run screws, but I was told the tire sometimes slips on the wheel and pulls the tube forward ripping the valve stem out.....is that true or wives tale?

Yes, they will spin on the wheel. I always ran about 7 lbs with my car at
the drags. I prefer tubes also.

I've heard the same thing but never seen it happen. I didnt want to take a chance on losing a $50 tube and getting stranded at the track so I've always used rim screws with tubes.

Make em bead locked and keep an eye on your tire pressure, are you racing this thing at the track or street driving? We use wheel screws on the bead, and (knock on wood) we have run slicks and drag radials and have never had a problem with them leaking down as long as you mount them with Dawn detergent! Check the pressure, just before you pull into the water!

Run tubes if you are gonna run screws or they will loose air. If you are not going to run screws be careful about lowering air pressure for strip or you could spin tire on rim!

I have actuallly marked rim and tyre and they move about an inch a run. This was on a about a 2600lb car, 750hp and 26x10 slick. And I have heard of cars ripping the tits off tubes.. in the burnout... before a final round.
