Just got back from picking up my very rare swivel bench seat just finished by the StichBitch herself(Jennie). Its silver Zodiac and Purple(looks blue-ish in the picture)Tuck and Roll for my 58 Plymouth convertible. I can't wait till later this Fall for her to do the whole car. Its so Wild and She did such a GREAT Job.If you want a Real Tuck and Roll interior, well she's the Best,so call her and Get in Line.
Wow. Pleats line up, no wrinkles in the upholstery. Great design, great craftsmanship. Thats what CUSTOM upholstery is. Nice!
Nice job... but where's the "tuck" and where's the "roll"... looks like just pleats to me. We need a thread to explain this often mis-used term.
PLEATED=upholstery material glued or sewn to foam rubber with scrim backing. Then the "pleats" are marked off. in desired width, on the material with chalk, or on the scrim backing with ink, and sewn. The stitching of the pleats is visible in this method. Tuck & ROLL=much more difficult and time consuming process in which backing material is laid out with foam rubber strips. The upholstery material is rolled over each piece of foam and sewn to the backing so that the stitching is not visible. The material can also be sewn to the backing and each pleat hand stuffed with cotton or foam. The main thing with this method is the stitching is not visible.
See,this is why I come here,to be enlightened.Kool info. PasoJohn;bitchin' seats,I fricken' love Zodiac Paul
The "roll' part refers to the unpleated/untucked portion of the front lower cushion and the very top of the back cushion as often seen on early style roadsters... that's the "roll". If it's all tucks or pleats it ain't "tuck and roll"... Here's a "rolled and pleated" interior and a "diamond tucked (or "tuck") job...
