    I sold my old single axle trailer that I’ve hauled with my Ranchero for the last 15 years.

    I bought this tilting single axle a friend of mine Mike Bjorklund built from scratch. I’ve always wanted one of his trailers….

    I got this specifically to haul the roadster behind the Ranchero. I plan to make a removable enclosed top… and I’ll put some moon disks on it like the old enclosed dragster trailers.

    Its made from old service ramps from a gas station just like my old one was it’s just longer and the axle is set back.

    5200lb axle? I'm starting to get some ideas for a period correct trailer of my own. It's tough for me to find a single Axle car trailer that satisfies my over-sensitive safety standards.

    Our kids are only young once, best not to miss their younger years. hopefully you get a chance to get back into it though!

    I had an idea… proof of concept… I was originally going to run aluminum risers for the mounts. I need to raise it up because of a scrub line issue.

    So the orange and aluminum is printing hot press rubber (80 durometer) and then clear acrylic. They make this stuff in other colors.. so I was thinking black and then you could shape them on the lathe and they would look like a hurst yo-yo shifter.

    This is just a quick mock-up but I like the acrylic under the standard biscuit it’s more subtle. I would sand and polish the acrylic so it looks like glass. I think if I can get my hands on some black rubber hot press and put radiuses on the corners they would look Bitchen.

    I milled the acrylic down so it’s only an half inch thick and fit my hands on some black hot press rubber- this one is thinner and backed with steel. Would be cool to mill the acrylic so it seats right down inside it a bit…

    You plan to run with this concept or is it just for your mock-up? Acrylic is a very notch sensitive, brittle material that should not be used like this. Polycarbonate (i.e. Lexan) is much better but the load these are under along with vibration, exposure to UV and, fuel / oil makes for a bad application for plastics.

    Hey Tuck - it's been a few years since I've been on the HAMB, finally found a local hotrodder to help me setup my chassis. Took about a month to setup my hemi, 700R4 trans (empty case) and finalize the QCR - chassis looks tough as hell! My new avatar shows the recent build with a rough mock up, but now everything is completely welded! Hope all is well with your family and talk to you soon enough!

    my roadster body laid on its side at some point in its life and the body line on the inside was reinforced with filler, the lower rear was patched- some areas are paper thin. Bought a brookville quarter to replace it. I’ve been single three years now and it’s starting to set in that nobody can be upset with me for making purchases like this, crazy how long that lingers, f* walking on egg shells around people. Like the XB12R I bought this summer these things make my soul feel great. It’s good to get this checked off my list. Crazy this shows up before the stuff I ordered for my truck last November

    I plan to recess the cowl a bit more and upgrade the aluminum laminate to 1/4” plate and polish the shit out of it so I don’t need to indent the space for the magneto. I was staring at photos and wondering what it might look like if I sectioned the cowl and inch- like made it an inch shorter. Nobody would really notice and I think it would be rad… just talking out loud. I’m going to weld and smooth the cowl and side panels and cut down the lip on top of the hood.

    Are you talking about making the cowl an inch shorter front to back or top to bottom?

    a buddy pointed out to me a few years back that weesners drawings of roadsters have a shorter cowl front to back than in reality so he built a few with the cowl cut back and sure as shit they had “the look”

    glad your having some parts show up and having a good time :)

    That’s exactly what I’m talking about- I didn’t realize he drawings are like that I’ll have to go analyze them a bit.

    to get the wheels in the right spot with the rear quarters I started to run into interference with the magneto- so I started thinking about recessing the cowl a bit more and that lead to just shortening the cowl altogether which my gut is telling me would look rad.,, and I can keep my firewall flat and clean!

    Hello Tuck. I love old roadsters and 28/29 are my favoritest. I ran into Jeff Yeagle at a swap meet this weekend and we got to talking about Tokyo. What a good dude. Haven’t talked to that guy in like ten forevers which is all on me for being shitty at keeping in touch. Speaking of which.. I just looked through my smartphone Rolodex, and I ain’t got yer number no more. Lost it somewhere in technology. Rap back at me man.

    I’m going to trim out one inch, I had already removed the lip which was over an inch. This will move the body up. I’m plan to keep the tight spacing at the firewall and try and form a blister for the mag out of the 1/4 aluminum after I anneal a piece of it.

    I’m leaning heavily towards filling the wheel well openings so they’re smooth.

    I need to move some stuff around so I can get my gantry out so I can lift the body off the chassis and start cutting it up.
